Dud grenades?

Morning/afternoon/evening all!
This phenomenon has happened to me a couple of times recently, mostly on the PRTA server, but also on NwA once or twice too. In essence, i throw a hand grenade see it leave my hand, watch it bounce on the floor, and that's it. No bang, nothing. Apart from me getting shot up again. Even if i survive the first encounter and throw a second grenade, that will simply dud up as well.
Has anyone else had this happen to them?

Yes lots of times with the AK47 kit on Al Basrah, when I got killed and respawned again and it was fixed again. Weird.
Post nr. 1000 by the way.

Did you die while/right after throwing them. I've noticed that but it only happens while/right after you throw the grenade and get killed.

No I died minutes later by a tank shell to the face.

i've seen this happen too. What I might think it is is that it's not really a dud, but there is just no explosion effect. I think it does inflict damage but that no effect is made or a sound. This happens too sometimes to tankshells and such.

this happens me a lot when playing as militia faction in Ochamchira skirmish, the granade does not explode nor does any damage, I threw a bad grenade that fell into my feet and I didnt die and it didnt explode. or maybe I forgot to take out the pin

I think this involves the interaction of the grenade and the terrain. Some map areas seem to eat grenades/kits.

This happened to me a couple of times as well on different maps and servers.
So... are dud grenades a bug or a feature?

This happend to me too. But recently I found this "feature" or bug happens way more. Had this happen on Asad where my and the nades of a mate didn't explode when we throw them into one of the 2 story buildings. This bug also is common on the buildings in silent eagle.

I was under the impression this was in some way related to server side issues? I can't remember why I think that!?
It's happened to me a few times on Asad Kahl, even in older versions. It used to happen on the old 3dAC server, occasionally physics would break down like I was in the zone, no explosions from grenades, gunfire only from my perspective, no damage etc. This was when the server was screwed up in some way (helpful I know)!

Foolslappa just had that issue on Vadso City with the British marksman kit on the QRF server. No frags worked, not even the ones he got from an ammo bag after having thrown the first two ones.

Glad to see it's not just me then. As far as i can tell it's simply that the grenades do not explode, but even this can change between players. The incident i was talking about was on al basrah coming out of the insurgent main. Threw a grenade, saw it bounce on the floor right next to a brit soldier, no explosion, took cover for a minute, still no explosion, throw another one, see it bounce off a wall, get shot, still no explosion.
But just as someone already said, is this a bug, or feature? I'm leaning more towards bug because it's happened to 2 grenades in one life for me, and as Sax said, it's happened from re-armed grenades too.

Its a bug, not a feature, if it was a feature than only a very small % of grenades wouldn't detonate, mainly insurgent ones too but when it happens, quite a large % of them are dud...
Dunno what causes it myself, dunno if anyone dose but at a guess it might be linked to server strain but that's just a random grab in the dark.

Dont happen to me, i only saw it from other players.
Guys you need to pull the pin of the granade first, then throw it.

The bug I know that cause this is a server issue.
It happens when the server synchronizes it's clock and if there was a difference.
Solution: turn off time synchronization on the server and do it manually when the gameserver is shut off.
Anyway, that bug usually affects all players and can only be solved with a restart.
Due to the fact you talk about only a fraction of the players are affected I doubt we are talking about the same bug, either way it is definitely not a feature.

Please provide some info on your settings and system specs so we can exclude the "only the effect doesn't show" error.

PR's Settings:
All Maxed Out on High.
Sound Quality is Medium.
I rarely get the effect, though I've seen it once on Silent Eagle and in Kashan Desert where I throw a grenade on the bunker and it just rolls down like a rock, doesn't explode... you know, the one where you parachute and capture the airport first, then the vehicle checkpoint and so on?
It happens for me when there's alot of action like CAS and firing that equals to some temporarily slower than normal latency, so I do suspect that it's server-side, and [R-Dev]BloodyDeed confirmed this to be a time/syncing issue.
