Ping and Lag For AUS

Hello,

I recently bought BF2 and am downloading Project Reality at the moment. But I am just wondering if there is any lag issues for Australian players on the US servers.

If an Aussie or Kiwi player could reply on this thread with their lag experiences on the US servers it will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
DedMan

Take a look at BigD, it's an Australian server that's mostly full on the weekends, it hosts a variety of community events.

Awesome thank you very much!

I was under the impression that there wasn't a large Australian community for PR

To be honest, I don't see BigD fill that often these days, but maybe I'm just not looking at the right time. As for playing on US servers, it's not an issue in general - the only time it might get you is CQC, but due to the slower pace of the game, we can normally play just fine.
I also stay away from air assets, for the same reason.

Lags usually not an issue for me. Turning down the graphics usually stops most lagg for me.

Personally I have minimal lag playing on CIA and HOG (don't worry if your ping sits around 200, if you're computer is pretty good then you'll find that it won't disrupt your game play).

If you do find a bit of lag problems, dropping graphics is the easiest solution.

But yeah if you get the chance hop on BigD, naturally the ping there is the best for us.

OR...

You could wait for the NBN... (If you don't mind waiting a few years XD)

BigD is almost never full, let alone even be populated, please guys, face the facts, I loved that server as it was close to home, but it is gone for the time being. Hopefully v1.0 will revive it, I love having lower ping.

I get about 200 ping from NZ, and despite having a high ping, I don't find it affects me too much, as I can do 95% of PR perfectly fine. E.g. Walking, walking, walking, mortars, walking, speaking, some more walking, dying, talking some more, respawning, some flying, and once again walking. But, that one time you need a good ping, aka, in Close Quarter fighting, you NEED that 130-160 less ping than what you have. You need that .2 of a second, it can make a hell of a difference. It is literally the difference between life and death in head-on engagements. Those few extra bullets your opponent can spray before the server even registers you have pulled the trigger can kill you, and there is nothing you can do about it.

It's rarely full. Community events are still worth a look.

I'm from Perth and get about 270 ping , it's playable but in close range gun on gun your done
Other than real close engagements its not to bad

Should be worth a look Satuday night with Karbala AAS, you'll have to DL the map and install to PR/Levels (don't worry this changes nothing for playing 'normal' Pr Maps).

I was an active Euro who gets frustated by the empty Big D apart from Holzy's great changed maps, I'm suprised that the pacific crowd can't agree on a weekend night and all get on judging by the amount of posters here and Antipodeans I hear on CIA I'd have thought it could get up.

The reasons for BigD's death are mostly unrelated to a gross lack of Australians who are interested in PR.

I think it's more that we're all too lazy to open up PR :P
