Artillery/Spooky, why didn't we think of this before?

If a map wasnt going to have a ship to provide artilllery, there can be the AC-130H which is armed with a gatling gun, and auto cannon, and a howitzer. I saw something about it on mail calll and was blown away.

now, since artillery needs to be capable of being destroyed, you can give it unlimited amount of flares, but give it a long reload time for them. since it has thigns to jam radar and such make it take twice as long for an enemy airplane to lock on. and when shot at have like...2 missles take out the howitzer and have it do a certain amount of damage to the plane. and have it follow a certain path. have engs able to spawn on there and repair it. maybe thats thinking a little too much out of the box, but its an idea!

from what iv heard the maps in BF2 are HUGE like 11 CP's huge if thats the case id love to see the specter, just try not to make it like the undestructable thing DC had for a long time where it could crash into anything and survive

It would be cool as a spawn point. The same use as the carrier has now, like a mobile base. But will require a lot of new codes and stuff.

You could link that to the arty strike command I think.

Instead of static arty that fires and such, you get a model that appears way high up, then flies down to target, circles and shells it, than flies away...

sounds good, just as long as it isnt the huge thing in dc that just wont die

oops, i meant it as more of a past tense thing, my bad

When was the last time you played DC? the thing seems to be made out of tissue paper now.

And about swooping down and then flying away, you really need the artillery to be destroyable to give the teams a bit of balance. Shooting it down as it circles is easier said than done.

That was its use in Desert Combat, but we would prefer not to use it as a transport since it isn't one. It's a flying fire-support battery.

the AC-130 was indestructable in the frist half of the DC builds you could fly it into anything nad it would bounce off

the plane itself should just be an animationlike thing, swooping down, destroying and then pulling up. the destroyable thing should be some sort of base or ammo depot. this way the engineers who repair it won't have to go very high into the skies where they could only possibly come by respawning in the plane.

ahhh, good call Wolfmaster. Instead of destorying the airplane you can destroy a radiostation or something, pretty much destroy the commanders ability to establish communication with the plane, because its not going to shoot at anything unless it has orders to.

A-10 sounds good, but id rather fly one :D

same here i love the A-10, a cannon so powerful that if continually shot for a minute the plane comes to a hault =)

and what i mean with the spooky is for it to circle high, and shoot its artillery cannon for the commanders artillery. and the only way to disable it is through a command station on the ground.

that actual spooky plane would be too high for jets to interact with, and IRL it has jamming radar and such so the jets wouldnt be able to lock onto it.

swoop down, circle... all the same thing. the point is that it engages the target in whatever way it normally does.
