Hi,I have a problem with both PR and BF2,Most likely just BF2 but anyway. When i launch BF2 i get a black screen like it's supposed to start then it disseappears and nothing happeneds.So i guess that's the reason why i can't play PR too,because my BF2 won't even launch. I have a Nvidia GTX 680-I7-3770K-16Gb RAM-Win 7. Though when i installed BF2 it said that the game has only been tested on 32-bit Win XP. But i have this on another PC which isn't at home,it has an Win 7 just that it has worse specs. I really need help!

Probably a messed up resolution/refresh rate issue.

Run BF2 in a window (if you don't know how to do that, try here), and then see if it throws an error at you.

I tried it and nothing happened. This time it didn't even try to launch. But is there a way that you can play PR without BF2 working fully? (Ofcourse not) But it's worth asking in case!

Please copy your shortcut line into your next post, just so we can confirm it's working fine.

Also, please detail what patches you installed on your BF2 install?

I installed patch 1.41 and 1.50 and the shortcut line is,

Computer-DATADRIVE1 (E

- SteamLibrary- Mods- PR

I'm not sure if that was what you were looking for. I'm sorry if it wasn't,i'm not the best at neither English or computers!

You can not run PR from inside the BF2 mod launcher.

You must use C:\Program Files\steam\steamapps\common\Battlefield 2\mods\PR\PR.exe

(Fix for your PC file system, you have your Steam games library installed on E: drive )

So wait here,Let me just get this straight. I have installed steam on the (E) file because (C) didn't have enough space(before). But should i uninstall steam and install it on the (C) file? And i haven't installed/Bought BF2 on steam. Thanks in advance!

Do not uninstall anything.

What version of BF2 do you own? Steam, EA Origin, Retail DVD, or something else?

Where is the BF2.exe file located?

In the folder that BF2.exe is located, you will see a subfolder called \mods
in \mods folder you will see a folder called \PR
in \PR folder you will see a file PR.exe
You need to run PR.exe to play PR.

Search how to run BF2.exe in windowed mode, you should be able to find the answer in Swedish if it's easier for you.

Once you get BF2 running, adjust your video settings to fit your monitor resolution and refresh rate.

After that, BF2 and PR should work in fullscreen mode.

I own a BF2 on a disc (DVD) and it is located-

Computer-Datadrive1 (E)- SteamLibrary

I have a folder which is called SteamLibrary which is where i install my games on. I know how to run BF2 in windowed,it's just that i can't launch it.

Please understand I got confused because you installed the DVD version of BF2 in a directory named SteamLibrary. Now that we have that misunderstanding cleared up, let's move on to get you up and running BF2 and PR.

What is the native resolution of your monitor? 1920x1080 , 1680x1050? Look here for reference:

What is the native resolution of your monitor? IF it is a LCD flatscreen, it is almost always 60Hz.

Edit your PR shortcut and ( what AfterDune said ) put this in it

Dont just copy paste this, but adjust to your install location. Make sure you dont omit quotation marks or it wont work.

Download and install 0.973 full installer.

log in.

Start the PR shortcut on desktop.
log in.
join online game.

If you crash at the splash screen, or the screen goes black and then crashes to desktop, try to start PR in windowed mode by following the directions below:

I decided now that i will uninstall everything and do it all from the beginning to try get it to work.I'll make a specific folder for BF2 called Games/Battlefield on the (E) drive.I really hope that i'll ever get this to work,since i'm like the worst on computers i'm going to have an hard time,but i'll get back to you once i struck upon any errors/problems. (It won't take long).

So i reinstalled everything. And everything is installed the game,the mod,the patches. But i get this error.

Looks like something is wrong with your resolution settings.
Open your Video.con file(in notepad) and paste it back here.

you should be able to find the video.con file in
C:\Users\INSERTUSER\Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\Default

EDIT:: NVM, Don't do that ^^ Didn't see that an actual support person was helping you.
Probably best to wait for him to respond so you don't get dragged in opposite directions.

SnipeHunt is correct.

Go to C:\Users\[Username]\Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\Default
and find Video.con
open it in Notepad or your favorite text editor,
copy it all and paste it in this thread.

In your Go to C:\Users\[Username]\Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\Default\video.con file, there is a line that should look like this:

VideoSettings.setResolution 1920x1080@60Hz

change it to
VideoSettings.setResolution 1280x720@60Hz

In your Go to C:\Users\[Username]\Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\001\video.con file, there is a line that should look like this:

VideoSettings.setResolution 1920x1080@60Hz

change it to
VideoSettings.setResolution 1280x720@60Hz

If you have more subdirectories in C:\Users\[Username]\Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles, 0002 , 0003, 0004 , etc, ... you can change the video.con file in each of them also.

This is what my Videos.con file look like, using a single Samsung 700D monitor with a ATI HD 7970 card. I've tried everything including matching up my resolutions and my refresh rate (did it once before due to my laptop being 61hz) but none of these changes fixed the problem for me. I even tried GPU scaling on my ATI control panel. I've tried all other methods to get the game to work that I could find on the PR forums and Steam forums with no change in the problem. This is my issue, hopefully Mathew will post his, hopefully you can help us both out.

Some other things to test:

1. Make sure you shutdown all background programs that have overlays, FRAPS, Raptr, Steam Overlay, Overwolf, Logitech G series overlay software, MSI Afterburner, Asus Utilities, etc., etc.

2. Go to Battlefield 2\mods\pr and open PRError.log in a text editor. Go to the bottom of the page, copy the last few entries and past here.

3. Try running vanilla BF2 in windowed mode,

Adjust to your actual installation location.

DevilsMercenary,
write down your BF2 account password or accounts passwords.
Rename the Battlefield 2 folder inside the Documents folder to something like "Battlefield 2 Backup"
start BF2,
adjust your settings.
Close BF2.
Start PR, play PR.
You can try copying Profile files like Controls.con from "Battlefield 2 Backup" back to the new "Battlefield 2" directory in your documents folder. (Only if you have set up custom keybinds, or custom Audio settings, this is a optional step)
Start PR, play PR. If you copied over a .con file and the game will not start now, well, you found the problem.
