Load Map, Freeze/Crash ....Profile Deleted

Joined an empty Brazillian PR server (wanted to test something) on Fallujah West after previously playing on NWA Fallujah West.
Map loaded, joined and instead of the in game scenario loading I got a repeated picture of horizontal lines of various colours and my system wouldn't respond.
Rebooted, ran PR and BF2 to find the profile I used was no longer available (the space for it existed but it said offline and did not have a profile name).
