Trying to build stuff....

I've been trying to build stuff playing the bot 1 player game to
learn but it always says pick another area....
I've read the directions and pick officer kit have team members
around and everything......
Been trying build HMG position or mortar position on my own w/
bots/also rally points or spawn points.
I've assisted on server as team member digging positions but would like to
do it on the bot 1 player game......

Well, there's a couple things that could be going wrong here. First, you need a supply crate nearby to build a FOB, which can be dropped from logistics trucks and transport choppers. You won't be able to build mortars or other emplacements until you have a FOB built nearby.
Also, if you're trying to build something on uneven ground, you will often get the 'Try another location' error. You should try and build on flat ground until you get a hang of how the spawner works so that you can position things well.
And one more thing, you don't need to dig things in co-op mode, they'll appear already fully built.

You're playing co-op?
Deployable objects work differently in co-op. Some instantly spawn and don't need to be built, but I think some don't work properly.

First off: Great idea to actually try stuff out BEFORE going online and destroying crates, killing yourself or generally pissing everyone off!
As Spec said, Deployables work differently in Coop than in Deployment, so what you want to do is to launch a private Deployment server and test it in there. Some things to get you started and safe you a lot of time:
Type these commands in chat:
rcon debug (to enable all the other commands)
rcon spawner pr_supply_crate_us (the last part, here "us", indicates the faction the crate belongs to. So "mec", "ch", "ru", etc.)
Now you simply search for a spot you ever wanted to see a FOB being built, try to block of some areas with wires or learn how to set up proper HMG cover over an area. And while we are on the topic of HMGs...do NOT build both of them 5 m next to each other, facing the same f'ing direction. Makes me furious every time I see this on servers...
Pro-Tip: create some sort of an "auto-shovel" if you don't have one yet! There are hardware and software related solutions and it is really helpful, for "trying to build stuff" as well as your casual online-game!

Well I think the main thing you are missing is that you need to be 250 meters outside of your main base to build deployable objects.

Well my intent is not to annoy just learn-I've played and help
build mortar pit just like to do it single player to get thru all the
maps-in some I've without them and just have fun in the process.
I've help build a fob inside a building on a server but on coop I've went to even terrain
and still said pick another spot.......
Me personally seeing 2 HMG positions 5m apart would be wasteful.
But maybe they were having fun.
I 1st want to know every aspect of this game and 2nd getting
mumble to work-I can hear them but they barley hear me......
Auto shovel how you do that?

I use my cell phone to auto shovel.

I know and as I wrote, that is a good thing - Thumps up!

Regarding the autoshovel:
As mentioned, there are hardware solutions (cell phone, put mouse below keyboard, heavy scissors, etc.) and some people use Overwolf overlay to accomplish that.
The term itself basically is a derivate of BF2's famous "autowalk" feature

so anything that makes you shovel without you actually pressing the button yourself the whole time is an "auto-shovel". "Autowalk" is engaged by opening a chat line while still pressing the movement key(s).
