Hi.

Downloaded BR File.

Played it back with sound. Recordered with FRAPS and there is no sound?

Realised I had this problem in the past lol

Should be solved now.

Based on the extensive system and setup details you've provided, I'm forced to conclude that it's excess thermal paste residue on your GPU heatsink.

With more information, this diagnosis may be subject to change (probably for the better)

True, but at this point an accurate analogy would be this:

"My car isn't starting, what's the problem?"

It's impossible to know without more details from your end.

and you were correct.

KNOWN hardware bug - Creative X fi sound option in game...NOT compatible with FRAPS.

I previously had the same problem (although many years ago and forgot about it, incidentally I was searching for my posts in support to find a post with my specs when I came accross a thread where I answered someone else saying it's a problem and doesn't work unless it is on 'hardware' (not x fi) and high (not ultra high).

Haha good to hear. Does that mean if you change the sound options to... hardware but not xfi then you can record the sound too?

You're correct.

I know it seems really strange because surely hardware would be X-fi but hardware might in this case be MOBO sound or Process effets (I'm not knowledgable on sound output)

Hardware and High = Game with Sound and recordable sound
Xfi and Ultra = Game with sound but not recordable sound

Not tried X-fi and other settings...don't want to.

I haven't tried using it, but the new Razer Game Booster includes video recording capabilities that maybe work with X-Fi. It's free, so you don't have to keep using the Pirated version of Fraps you've probably got off pb

I'm proud to have paid for FRAPS.

I'm very happy to pay for software (at a reasonable price) if I get free updates forever instead of a crappy one year license (i.e subscription) with limited features unless I upgrade more.

Never heard of the app you mentioned.

To capture X-Fi Ultra high sound of PR you need to:

Win 7:
-disable all recording devices and enable "What U hear" in control panel

Win XP:
-just enable "What U hear" in control panel

The difference is Win 7 won't let you have What U hear enabled (the only way to capture this sound) unless all the other capture devices are disabled. Win XP lets you keep both (or more) enabled at the same time.

Call me unadventurous but I'll stick with what I have from now on.

Anyone out there willing to confirm this?

You can't capture X-Fi Ultra High sound because PR talks directly to the OpenAL driver, so the only way to capture it is using "What U Hear" option. And this option only works when all the other recording modes are disabled in Control panel. This applies to Win 7, while Win XP lets you keep more than one recording option enabled at the same time as "What U Hear".
