In the same way people sometimes subconsciously pair the soft background noise of a dryer with going to sleep, or the smell of coffee with their workplace in the morning, over the years I have slowly paired those first few guitar chugs in PR's main menu with internet disconnections, punkbuster errors, and server crashes.

Now whenever I hear those first few seconds of PR's main menu music, whether on youtube, a devcast, or something else, I reflexively feel a few intense seconds of frustration and disappointment.

Does anyone else have this problem?

Yes, and I have actually thought the exact same thing regarding this. Kind of odd.

i have PR music turned off, so it doens't affect me
i loved the 0.8 menu song, and hated when it was changed to what it is now... i think thats y the reason
maybe its a nostalgic thing, who knows

PR .6 soundtrack is the best.

I know what you mean. I recently turned on the music again after a long period of time without any. Makes loading maps a bit boring, and you miss out with some of the awesome soundtracks for the mini-mod maps, but if you've got your own music you can listen to in the meantime that's perfectly fine.

Turn it off for a couple of months and if you want to you could turn it back on and you should feel differently about it.

You wussy's, the Main menu music isn't bad, it's pretty good in my opinion. But the new stuff is pretty awesome too.

I actually bought the soundtrack and regularly listen to it.....

I love the main menu music. Nothing to complain here.

Just saying that when you listen to the same song over and over again for two years you will get sick of it, whether it's good or not is irrelevant, which is why the exact same thing will - unfortunately - happen to the new stuff too.

What i believe he meant is that when you're trying to join a server and it's full / you disconnect you hear the first few seconds of the main theme, again you hear it when a server crashes, punkbuster kicks you out etc. In time you start to pair those first few seconds with the frustration you feel when that happens. So when you hear those guitar chugs somewhere else, you immediately get the same feeling of frustration.

He never said the theme was bad

Didn't say he said it was bad, said it isn't bad, I don't mind the main menu even after those disconnect fails .

This was the same with all the themes. First seconds come so annoying, its like "IN YOUR FACE! SERVER CRASHED AND NOW YOU'RE GONNA LISTEN TO THIS!"

Just another aspect of 1.0 that I adore.

How many times have have I sat on a building, a squadmate with a hat next to me, and an APC rolling down a street in a perfect angle, and I scream at like like carzy to shoot that goddam thing and a I got was this TANTAN...TANTAN...TANTAN...bdchink .... Maybe the Devs should simply insert five seconds of emptiness before the track starts, so we do not associate those awful moments with great music.

The 1.0 main theme is awsome

Or maybe add more tracks for the main menu?

I personally love it, but man, that guitar tone... *shudder*
