Can you play regular BF2?
You obviously have very nice PC,
I think this is simply a software installation or software configuration file mistake.
'[R-COM wrote:LITOralis.nMd']Was BF2 installed and working before you installed PR? Was BF2 patched to 1.5 ?
Can you log in to vanilla BF2?
If BF2 was already working, we'll suggest one course of action. (Could be firewall/antivirus/router/installation error/etc)
IF BF2 was just installed NOW so you can play PR, all the parts have to be installed in proper order.
Please read below and make sure you installed BF2 and PR in this order:

Here is the installation guide with download links:
PR:BF2 Support - Project Reality Forums
https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f27-pr ... guide.html

Here is the installation guide in tl;dr format:

Install BF2.
Run BF2.
Note the version number on the bottom left corner of the log-in screen. Write it down.
log in or create a user account.
join online game.
adjust your audio and video settings now for convenience.
exit BF2.
Reboot.

(Optionally if you bought it) install Special Forces Addon.
Run BF2.
log in.
join online game.
exit BF2.
Reboot.

install 1.41 FULL PATCH.
Run BF2.
log in.
join online game.
exit BF2.
Reboot.

install 1.5 PATCH.
Run BF2.
log in.
join online game.
exit BF2.
Reboot.

Download and install 1.0.X_Beta full installer.
Start the PR_Beta shortcut on desktop.
log in.
exit PR.

If you crash at the splash screen, or the screen goes black and then crashes to desktop, try to start PR in windowed mode by following the directions below:

Edit your PR_beta shortcut and put this in it

Code: Select all

Code:
"D:\Program Files\Battlefield 2\mods\pr\pr.exe" +restart +menu 1 +fullscreen 0 +szx 1280 +szy 720
Dont just copy paste this, but adjust to your install location. Make sure you dont omit quotation marks or it wont work.
Gladi, you need to use something like "G:\Gry\BF\mods\pr_beta\pr.exe" +restart +menu 1 +fullscreen 0 +szx 1280 +szy 720

Sorry, I have not installed the Beta yet and don't know the exact path to the EXE, you have to find the .exe file and dit your link correctly.

If you start in windowed mode and it CTDs, a Message will pop up telling you the problem. Take a screenshot or write this down and post it to this thread.

PLEASE SEND ME A PM IN FORUM SO WE CAN GET A COPY OF YOUR DOCUMENTS\BATTLEFIELD 2 FOLDER SENT TO THE DEV TEAM.

This is helped me:

- Renaming all folders that located in c:\Users\user_name\Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\
(actually inserting "_" symbol before the folder name)
- Uninstalling BETA
- Installing beta through several error reports saying that can't update because "BLA BLA 76 ERROR..."
- Updating finally
- Retrieving account through USERNAME and PASSWORD
- PROFIT!

Good luck!

Ok guys, I had simmilar issue on Windows 8.1 - crash and clearing resources. On Windows 7 it was simply stuck on black screen.
Found solution for myself, maybe it helps you as well if the one given above didn't (for me it didn't):
1. Launch PRLauncher and leave it running in background.
2. Go to your BF2 folder (for example C:/Program files (x86)/EA Games/Battlefield 2)
3. Find PRBF2.exe file, click it with second mouse button and choose properties.
4. Go to Comability tab and switch off Windows XP (SP3) compability mode.
5. Now go back to your launcher and press "Play". Give it about one minute, because login is now being done while beeing in blackscreen. Soon you should see intro if you didn't unselect it in launcher.
6. Unfortunatelly... you have to do it each time when running PR, because launcher sets compability mode for PRBF2.exe always at its startup.

Post if it helped you :)

I tried a couple of things mentioned (not very precisely it has to be said).

Renaming
C:\Documents and Settings\tommygun\My Documents\Battlefield 2
to
C:\Documents and Settings\tommygun\My Documents\Battlefield 2 OLD
Still crash and cleaning resources

Then
Renaming all folders in
C:\Documents and Settings\tommygun\My Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles
to something else
Still Crash and cleaning resources

PRBeta says its running latest version
and pr0.81 still works fine.

Whats the actual executable file that runs for the game? The PRLauncher.exe runs the menu thing, what is run when you click play? I cant see any prbeta.exe type of thing anywhere?

latest update to latest update 1.0.21.0 does not seem to address issue

WORKING ....I think?

Very odd....Working off some other suggestions here I made a shortcut

"C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\PRBF2.exe" +restart +menu 1 +fullscreen 0 +szx 1280 +szy 720

Ran it windowed, retrieved my account then ran it and got an error like (sorry) run pr.exe rather than bf2.exe

ran the standard link on my desktop
"C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\pr_beta\bin\PRLauncher.exe"

and hey presto its loaded....now I just need an open slot to really see but its progress...

No, you must uncheck any compability mode! After launching a PRLauncher and letting it run in background. You have u uncheck compability mode for PRBF2.exe in BF folder. Did you do it like that? This worked for me on both Win7 and Win8 (however on Win 7 i've got a bit different issue).

WORKING with 1.0.21.0 XP

I just need to sort my voip and mumble is broken at the mo...I think. Graphics looked odd, maybe squashed but Ill play with options and report back.

Hey Bryan,
did you try make the link and run it once and get the error about updating shortcuts?

"C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\PRBF2.exe" +restart +menu 1 +fullscreen 0 +szx 1280 +szy 720

It might be superstitious behaviour but I had no luck till I did this once...maybe it makes a file or profile somewhere.

My graphics now look odd tho..even on high, maybe I need to update my ati drivers.
