Clearing BF2 resources

When I'm launching the game it crashes. Help?!
[/B][/QUOTE]'[R-COM wrote:LITOralis.nMd']Was BF2 installed and working before you installed PR? Was BF2 patched to 1.5 ?
Can you log in to vanilla BF2?
If BF2 was already working, we'll suggest one course of action. (Could be firewall/antivirus/router/installation error/etc)
IF BF2 was just installed NOW so you can play PR, all the parts have to be installed in proper order.
Please read below and make sure you installed BF2 and PR in this order:
Here is the installation guide with download links:
PR:BF2 Support - Project Reality Forums
https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f27-pr ... guide.html
Here is the installation guide in tl;dr format:
Install BF2.
Run BF2.
Note the version number on the bottom left corner of the log-in screen. Write it down.
log in or create a user account.
join online game.
adjust your audio and video settings now for convenience.
exit BF2.
Reboot.
(Optionally if you bought it) install Special Forces Addon.
Run BF2.
log in.
join online game.
exit BF2.
Reboot.
install 1.41 FULL PATCH.
Run BF2.
log in.
join online game.
exit BF2.
Reboot.
install 1.5 PATCH.
Run BF2.
log in.
join online game.
exit BF2.
Reboot.
Download and install 1.0.X_Beta full installer.
Start the PR_Beta shortcut on desktop.
log in.
exit PR.
If you crash at the splash screen, or the screen goes black and then crashes to desktop, try to start PR in windowed mode by following the directions below:
Edit your PR_beta shortcut and put this in it
Gladi, you need to use something like "G:\Gry\BF\mods\pr_beta\pr.exe" +restart +menu 1 +fullscreen 0 +szx 1280 +szy 720Code: Select all
Code: "D:\Program Files\Battlefield 2\mods\pr\pr.exe" +restart +menu 1 +fullscreen 0 +szx 1280 +szy 720 Dont just copy paste this, but adjust to your install location. Make sure you dont omit quotation marks or it wont work.
Sorry, I have not installed the Beta yet and don't know the exact path to the EXE, you have to find the .exe file and dit your link correctly.
If you start in windowed mode and it CTDs, a Message will pop up telling you the problem. Take a screenshot or write this down and post it to this thread.
Code: Select all

No, you must uncheck any compability mode! After launching a PRLauncher and letting it run in background. You have u uncheck compability mode for PRBF2.exe in BF folder. Did you do it like that? This worked for me on both Win7 and Win8 (however on Win 7 i've got a bit different issue).Bryan wrote:Nothing working! I can set it to Windows XP SP3 so I tried Vista but nothing works!!! Still get Clearing BF2 resources!
Did that just then...Nope still 'Clearing BF2 resources blah blah'wojos1Artist wrote:No, you must uncheck any compability mode! After launching a PRLauncher and letting it run in background. Not for me, updated just then...same story.Tommygun wrote:WORKING with 1.0.21.0 XP
so after my last efforts listed above its running, I then got no mouse control so as was suggested I reset the controls in game and I've connected and its working.
I just need to sort my voip and mumble is broken at the mo...I think. Graphics looked odd, maybe squashed but Ill play with options and report back.
Tommygun wrote:Hey Bryan,
did you try make the link and run it once and get the error about updating shortcuts?
"C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\PRBF2.exe" +restart +menu 1 +fullscreen 0 +szx 1280 +szy 720
It might be superstitious behaviour but I had no luck till I did this once...maybe it makes a file or profile somewhere.
My graphics now look odd tho..even on high, maybe I need to update my ati drivers.
