Good day Gents!

As I've read on the forums, some of you are having a hard time while trying to install the new .iso file, so I've written a small step by step guide to help you out.

Step 1:
Install Battlefield 2 and patch it to version 1.5
(self explanatory step, you should already have this done)

Step 2:
Download Daemon tools

Go to the provided link:
http://www.daemon-tools.cc/downloads [Warning: You may find other tools more suitable! Read posts below!]
Find "Daemon tools LITE 4" in the list and click on free download


It will take you to the download page, press the blue text that sais "Download" in the top right corner:


Step 3:
Install Daemon tools
Run the file you've just downloaded
Make sure you select a free license when the setup asks for it:


Deselect the "Windows gadget" as shown in the screenshot, and click the little + icon next to file associations:


Make sure .iso and .cue are selected as shown in the screenshot:


Deselect the "keep my pc clean..." nonsence in the next screen:


Select that you DONT want to send any information to mount space:


Done!

Step 4:
Install PR1.0 beta
NOTE: THE SAME PROCEDURE WORKS WITH THE 1.0 full release, version 1.0.29.0!

Just find the .iso file you downloaded and double click it


Autorun will pop up, just press "Start Project Reality: BF2"


Thats is! Congratz! Now just install PR and have fun

Alternate version:

1. Extract the .iso to a new folder using 7zip, WinRAR, or another archiving utility.
2. Run the .exe

If someone has a problem with updater, just try many times until update is done without errors!

I had the same problem, i install everything, did import profile, but when it try to run its start to update, update just failed, so i try around 3-4x times, and it installed it ok.

Now is working ok.

I personally don't recommend DEAMON TOOLS as it sends unasked your userdate to their servers, even if you deactivate that checkbox in the dt-options. (for confirmation just google it (http://lmgtfy.com/?q=Daemon+tools+spying))


I prefer using VIRTUAL CLONE DRIVE, a simple and effective tool which you can download here:
Virtual CloneDrive - Freeware - EN - Download.CHIP.eu

Daemon tools is dangerous for Windows 7, can cause BSOD when turning off...

I recommend Virtual CloneDrive instead.

I also highly recommend NEVER using Daemon Tools,

Please use Virtual Clone Drive for this.

Note that if you own Steam version of BF2, if you have steam to automatically update BF2, you don't have to do each step, just install BF2 on Steam, let it update a small patch, and you are good to go.

Here is the installation guide in tl;dr format:

Install BF2.
Run BF2.
Note the version number on the bottom left corner of the log-in screen. Write it down.
log in or create a user account.
join online game.
adjust your audio and video settings now for convenience.
exit BF2.
Reboot.

(Optionally if you bought it) install Special Forces Addon.
Run BF2.
log in.
join online game.
exit BF2.
Reboot.

install 1.41 FULL PATCH.
Run BF2.
log in.
join online game.
exit BF2.
Reboot.

install 1.5 PATCH.
Run BF2.
log in.
join online game.
exit BF2.
Reboot.

When I doubleclick the downloaded .iso file it says "image is included" and nothing happens.
Am I retarded..? :/

EDIT:

Ok... tried everything on my PC -> I failed.
Tried it on the same way on my friend?s PC -> worked.
Tried it again on the same way on my PC for some days -> I failed.
Now I have an earworm of windows 7 errors ._.
Conclusion: PR trolled me. Well played PR.. well played..

So I can?t test the beta, but I?m looking forward to see the 1.0 mod someday.

Open it as any other CD/DVD. Go to computer and open virtual DVD device.

I have the 1.0 beta installed and working. Too install the 1.0 final I will have to uninstall the beta. Do I have to do that .DLL fix before I install 1.0 final

You can uninstall the beta right before you install 1.0, problem solved?

responded to wrong thread.

Because of having to re install VBF because of missing dlls and the resulting PB kicks after reinstall I copied a few files incase they vanish again.

RendDX9.dll
RendDX9x2.dll

Takes but a second to copy from BF2 file to mydox r somewhere so if I have a problem with these going from .983 to 1.00.25 I'll be covered.

you need to uninstall it first..

just remove everything: mumble, mappacks, 0.98, etc

then install 1.0 from the ISO file... that's all your gonna need...

Nope, installer will take care of that.
Maybe not mumble, I'm not certain about that.
