It's been a long time - how have you been?

Hi all,
For those who don't remember me, I'm an old BFPR vet who played almost daily from 2007-2010, but I've been following the Facebook page since my departure due to the real world.
I've seen BFPR has finally reached the v1.0 mile stone, and I'm coming back to give it a blast and hopefully get involved in the game again.
I left around the time Mumble was coming into its own for BFPR, and was largely making clan-based TS/Vent servers redundant. Is this still the case?
I'm a UK-based 24 year old public sector worker, working shifts (6 on (2x earlies, 2x lates, 2x nights), then 4 days off) with a relationship to maintain also. Are there any groups of players out there, not necessarily clans, that would welcome an addition to their team working entourage?
Hope you're all well - see you in the field!

Hello Heskey!
I know you from a few games. It's great to see you hop back in to Project Reality. I have this clan for a while now and we are recruiting. Although you said that you rather want a group our clan is like a group we are very chill. We just enjoy playing together.
https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f522-c ... n-war.html
We are very international and have members from around we are not too big right now around 12 members at the moment. We do enjoy our rounds and emphasize on teamplay.
We are a very relaxed clan which enjoys Project Reality a lot. We always think PR should be fun and tactical at the same time.
Contact me if you are interested

Thanks for the welcome back guys, some familiar names at least!
Is there a link to a 1.0 mumble config threat folks? I never got to grips with it when it was optional, but if it's now the main way to communicate, I'll get it set up!

You don't actually need to do anything these days. It comes basically completely integrated. If you want different keys or if it appears too quiet / loud / 3D isn't working, you can open the new mumble while playing PR - just alt-tab, there'll be an icon for mumble. Go to the settings and adjust as needed (you'll probably only want to change the keys and perhaps turn on "use headphones" if the 3D audio doesn't work when someone is directly behind you).

Cool, thanks spec.
How does this work with In-game VoIP then? It used to be that mumble was used for the wider game but during CQB squads used VoIP so as not to give the enemy the heads up.
I just joined a server to check my config briefly and was told via VoIP that my VoIP was working, but I wasn't coming through on mumble. I imagine that's because my VoIP key (V) probably isn't my mumble key - but people were still using VoIP?

Hm. Well, depends on whether you're talking .98 or 1.0 Beta.
In 1.0 Beta, VoIP really isn't needed at all anymore, Mumble replaces it. It has better quality and can serve as squad chat just as well, including a standardized overlay in the BF2 font where the VoIP icon would normally be.
In .98, Mumble is still basically the 'old' mumble, so you'll have to have VoIP set up as well.
You should never chose the same key for both.
If you are having trouble with it, which would be very unfortunate, we'll try to fix it for ya. Perhaps post in the support forum or look there if your particular problem has been had before.
Anyway; you playing .98 or 1.0?

Enemys can't hear you if you speak local on mumble. Vanilla Voip (which is complete **** compared to mumble) is not necessary anymore (and i think disabled on some servers).

I think that was because mumble had some connectionproblems til yesterday, and because of that everyone had to use vanilla voip again. But those mumble problems were sorted out, so everything should work fine right now.

Ye, exactly. This is a beta (assuming you're running 1.0), so sometimes Mumble was down for a while. In that case, have a backup key for ingame voip for a while.

Just played my first proper round on 1.0 and it was awesome. Few things to feedback on when I find the appropriate thread, but yeah - mumble worked well and it's good to play the game I loved again =]
PS. How come enemies can't hear local mumble now? Danger-close was always quite exhilarating.

They changed it a couple of versions ago so the teams are seperated.
Oh and hello again Mr Heskey
