I've tried 7 zip, I've tried daemon, I've tried virtual clone drive (which gave me a self installing browser toolbar,thanks), and none of them have worked. They don't seem to even recognize the file itself. Some help please?

This may sound obvious but have you downloaded the actual .iso file using a torrent client or are you trying to open the 52kb torrent file? Usually those programs recognize .iso files by default so something isn't right.

Okay, so I'm going to guess that I need to change it from a ".iso.torrent" file, into a ".iso" file. How do I do that?

The file you download from the Project Reality site (https://www.realitymod.com/downloads#bf2) isn't the .iso file. It's just a torrent file, which can only be opened by torrent programs like "utorrent". When you've opened that small torrent file with utorrent, it will auomatically start downloading the .iso file.
