Distance damage reduction...

I was wondering if the damage from a bullet will variate, so i if you are shot close up or from long distance, the damage will variate, taking in consideration of the bullet type and caliber....??

Or will a bullet no matter how far away its fired do the same damage....

In BF2 the damage seems to lessen over distance. I haven't verified this on every weapon yet. In any case, it's possible to lessen the damage over distance or have constant damage throughout. And yes, it's possible to change this depending on bullet/weapon.

as far as i know this one of the things most certain to be in project reality.

A head shot should still blow your head off though, even if the shot was from 2 miles away...

two miles is a pretty nice shot to land on someone, especially to the head :D

yeah, it wud be hard to hit but theoretically if it hit the head would be off.

wouldnt most bullets run out of juice by then? i mean tank rounds can shoot that distance no problem but thats a long rifle shot.

Well I'd assume that it would only do less damage once it has lost so much energy that it couldn't penetrate a helmet or kevlar. Other wise, it might even do more damage if the bullet lodges in you as opposed to going right through.

congrats on 300, ive never fired anything more powerful than a paintball gun myself... but i remember reading that this photographer back in korea was hit by a bullet that was still going but had reached the limit of its ability to penetrate and it just hit him and dropped to the ground

so it went through him and then dropped to the ground behind him? lol  anyway it does make sense bullets lose power over time i just don't know how much.

no it hit him in the chest, didnt even go through his clothes or anything and just fell to the ground. anyway yes like anything else a bullet would lose energy over time and, added to the drop of the bullet due to gravity, fall to the ground. i guess in the article in the book about the bullet that hit (but didnt injure) the photographer it would have shortly hit the ground since it was going slow enough anyway not to hurt the guy.
