Mines/IEDs and Teamkills

The new IED mines are great! But... they make teamkilling a whole lot easier because they're harder to see. On a recent round of fools road, despite marking mines (anti-vehicle IED) both on the map and with the stone markers, I still got 6 teamkills, though I did successfully destroy two enemy vehicles as well. I think it's fine that friendlies can kill themselves on team mines/IEDs, but It'd be nice if it counted as a suicide if it's properly marked. Assuming it's not possible to do this, it should at least not be a punishable teamkill. Of the 6 teamkills in that round, 4 resulted in punishes, so I think I was just one short of an auto-ban, even though all my mines were properly marked. That just shouldn't happen - makes using the great new kit just too risky.

I know it's not realistic, but doesn't vanilla BF2 already include markers on the HUD to show friendly mines. Can we please just add those markers so other people can see them in first person to these kinds of Vehicle pressure IEDs. The only way to prevent team kills is to tell people locally when standing next to the IED. Even telling them in detail where the danger is, there is always some idiot who walks or drives into them. To get any effectiveness from these IEDs are to place them extremely far away from any friendlies.

I did a round of IEDing yesterday which was at points very successful, but did get a few TKs on top even thou I had marked them fully with stones and all but ye, people like to drive and walk blindly though the streets...

I did find myself sitting next to my IEDs shouting out on mumble to anyone driving/walking anywhere near it that there was IEDs right down the street etc for like 10mins at one point during a game
We did want to put the vBF2 3D HUD warning on the stones for friendlies, but due to other coding making the markers not show up at any distance, we couldn't have these show, without having the ones we don't want to show also show up...
So ye, hopefully people will get more wary and check their map more

Yeah what pisses me off is being punished for marked mines, maybe there could be a way to reduce the negative points for this?

So does the enemy team see the stone markers? I assume they do, which makes them not very useful if your goal is to kill enemy inf/vehicles (instead of just slowing them down). To reiterate, I think we'd get 80% of the benefit just by making anti-vehicle mine/IED teamkills non-punishable.

Yes they do, but they are used a lot in r/l too where "the enemy" can see them too:
The thing is, as mentioned in
my blog on these is that they can be placed anywhere you like, even if there are no IEDs around or to even make someone change direction into an IED thinking if they go that way they will go into an IED. How you use them is very much up to you.
But I saw a really good use of the stone makers by someone on the enemy team who was using the WC IED to defend the cache. Granted the placement of the IED itself was totally rubbish as it was so close to the cache it would have probably blown it up if it went off and it was on the pavement/sidewalk between a small alleyway so the disturbed dirt showed up like a saw thumb so you didn't really need to spot the stone markers to see it. But getting to the point the guy placed the stone markers behind the IED, on the side the friendlies where on and not on the side where the enemies where on, which I only saw after flanking round the IED to come up on it from the rear. In Insurgency there is very much a front line with on one side the enemies, the other friendlies, and you can use this very much to your advantage to warn with the stones as that guy did, just you need to place the IED itself much better than he did
