Anyone else suffering from this?

Here are the quickest fixes we have found, option 3 is the easy solution:

1. In your BF2 installation directory (where BF2.exe is located) , Copy RendDX9.dll and RednDX9x2.dll to a safe location. uninstall PR_Beta, then copy those two files back to your BF2 installation directory.
2. backup the RendDX9.dll and RednDX9x2.dll files from the bf2 directory, before uninstalling pr1.0beta through control panel->remove programs
3. Uninstall, and copy in RendDX9.dll to your root BF2 directory.

If you could be a bit more specific I'm sure a lot more people are able to help you. What exactly doesn't work?

Also: Making these threads in the support section of the forum would be better, as there's a lot more help to get there.

I just get a black screen, and the bf2 crashes to desktop, It applies to all mods. Sorry this just happened. Any help would be appreciated.

Moved. No error message I guess? Can you try to run in windowed mode to see if you get an error message?

Also, please share your system specifications.

Hi !
Go to your BF2 main directory (where BF2.exe is) and look for RendDX9.dll ! if you don't have it , report back here , I'll upload it for you !

Last time that happened to me Battlefield 2 had completely disappeared from my computer, with only the mods left. Make sure you actually have BF2 installed and in the correct place and not just PR and other mods.

I fixed it by re-installing BF2, I should have run it in windowed mode first, I wasn't really thinking. Anyways, BF2 was installed in the default dictionary, and I can't remember if RendDX9.dll was present or not.

Possible reasons for the crashing :
- To update the the BETA i had to find a RendDX9x2.dll off the internet. (I thought by re-applying the original I backed up, it would work, but it didn't.)
- I updated punkbuster, when the installer asked me to...
- Windows Vista

Hopefully, I won't have a reason to uninstall the PR v1.0 Final.

I can confirm that when you uninstall PR_Beta 1.0, Battlefield 2 black screen and crashes to desktop.

RendDX9x2.dll is present in the default installation directory (has not been tampered with).
Running BF2 in window mode does the same thing; immediate crash to desktop.
No error messages whatsoever.

Well, I hope the way I fixed it works for you. Maybe the uninstaller removes something essential to BF2.
Check to see if RendDX9.dll is present.

Thanks fromage99! Found the solution.

PR Beta 1.0 deleted RendDX9.dll which causes BF2 Vanilla to crash. I found RendDX9.dll on the internet here and was able to get BF2 up and running.

Thats excellent. I wish I was more patient, so that I didn't have to re-install BF2. Anyways, I hope the DEVs release an update fixing this issue with the uninstaller.

I have the same issue.
I have checked the directory and I have RendDX9x2.dll is this the same thing.

if not I have tried to download RendDX9.dll and it takes me to a third party site and locks my computer up.

Any help will be appreciated to fix this issue

I managed to fix mine but now once I get into an online game I stay in for about 30-60 seconds then my game crashes.

ffs, same problem here, PR crashes to desktop without error message and so does BF2 V. RendDx9 is there so i doubt thats the problem.

Btw this happened after i uninstalled BETA (the proper way).

Any help would be appreciated??

I reran BF2 1.5 patch and it replaced all the deleted files. I played BF2 Vanilla perfectly.

UPDATE: Causes PB kick for error code: 120101. "Using disallowed program/driver." Guess I'll have to reinstall...
