HIND-E Gunner spot feels weak/useless

The only thing the hind E gunner position seems useful for is AA, and maybe shooting trucks/boats granted the pilot steadies
Spotting ground threats is tough in it due to no zoom, it's definitely not an anti infantry role due to the .50 cal having no splash.
My suggestion is really just either A. Add zoom so infantry/ground targets can be identified/shot at more - ammo is already fine at 500 which goes fast facillitating this change even more
B. Let the gunner laze with right click or change to laze cam , not sure how realistic this is but as it is now the gunner has to yell what direction/position the enemy ground targets are which is even still a hard feat for a good pilot to hit with rockets on certain maps

I used the co-pilot in the Hind primarily for spotting, and even that was unsuccessful because of the trees on Saaremaa showing up on thermals. Right now, the spot is basically useless unless you use it as a glorified .50 cal techi because as you said there is no splash and no zoom. Either give the gunner better armament or improved optics.

Yeah... .50cal is glorious for killing helicopters but that's about it

the tracers are vibrant, theyre good for painting targets up for rockets

The Yak-B should have splash damage to make up for the fact that it isn't firing the usual 83 rounds/second with the average spread the real one would have.

The Mi-24TECh-24 was utilized to evaluate various qualities as related to allied aircraft recovery. This was a developmental model that did not experience serial production of note. The Mi-24VP ("Hind-E Mod") of 1989 saw the original nose-mounted machine gun installation replaced with a dual 23mm cannon fitting. Production ended after just 25 of the type were delivered.Mi-24VU ("Hind-E") production models were delivered to India and were based on the Soviet Mi-24V series. The Mi-24VF was a developmental platform used to evaluate a rear-facing machine gun installation intended to defend the more vulnerable rears of the aircraft when in flight.
The Mi-24M mark identified an upgraded form of the original Mi-24 production model. The Mi-24VN ("Hind-E") was based on the Mi-24V with Mi-24VM changes though dedicated to night operations. The Mi-24PS was developed for use by security, police and commercial operators and fitted with a high-powered searchlight, external speaker system and FLIR. The Mi-24E was developed for use in environmental research and equipped with specialized systems for the role.

I dont see why you used E version for PR. Insert standard V or D.
Its a damn shame that you crippled it so much claiming its for the sake of the gameplay? Why not then cripple Apache or Cobra?
Make it work as it should or replace it with MI28N, but dont mutilate it.
Edit:
I forgot to say that gun on the hud is wrong type. None of the Hinds use 2A42 cannon.

IIRC I think it's because they received the model from Clivewill, an outside source, they didn't actually make it. However there's a new Hind model in progress I do believe.

Clivewil's Mi-24P model is serving as a PH for the second Mi-24V (which is the one being discussed). The V's loadout (which isn't reflected accurately on the model) is for an assault transport mission, with the gun turret, rocket pods (inner hardpoints would be fuel tanks, outer hardpoints empty), and room for passengers. Anything more heavily armed while still being a transport presents some balance challenges that are difficult to solve. The helo already has the toughest armor among helicopters.
We considered using DICE's hind model for this purpose, but had some problems with it that were harder to solve.

General characteristics
- Crew: 2?3: pilot, weapons system officer and technician (optional)
- Capacity: 8 troops or 4 stretchers or 2400 kg (5,291 lb) cargo on an external sling
- Length: 17.5 m (57 ft 4 in)
- Rotor diameter: 17.3 m (56 ft 7 in)
- Wingspan: 6.5 m (21 ft 3 in))
Performance
ArmamentInternal guns
- flexible 12.7 mm Yakushev-Borzov Yak-B Gatling gun on most variants. Maximum of 1,470 rounds of ammunition.
- fixed twin-barrel GSh-30K on the Mi-24P. 750 rounds of ammunition.
- flexible twin-barrel GSh-23L on the Mi-24VP and Mi-24VM. 450 rounds of ammunition.
- PKB passenger compartment window mounted machine guns
External stores
- Total payload is 1,500 kg of external stores.
- Inner hardpoints can carry at least 500 kg
- Outer hardpoints can carry up to 250 kg
- Wing-tip pylons can only carry the 9M17 Phalanga (in the Mi-24A-D) or the 9K114 Shturm complex (in the Mi-24V-F).
Bomb-load
- Bombs within weight range (presumably ZAB, FAB, RBK, ODAB etc.), Up to 500 kg.
- MBD multiple ejector racks (presumably MBD-4 with 4 ? FAB-100)
- KGMU2V submunition/mine dispenser pods
First-generation armament (standard production Mi-24D)
Second-generation armament (Mi-24V, Mi-24P and most upgraded Mi-24D)
- UPK-23-250 gunpod carrying the GSh-23L
- B-8V20 a lightweight long tubed helicopter version of the S-8 rocket launcher
- 9K114 Shturm in pairs on the outer and wingtip pylons
Capacity - 8 soldiers with full combat gear make it 120kg each = 960kg of maximum 2400 kg.
Empty weight 8.500kg
Max Takeoff weight 12.000kg
______________________________________
12.000 - 8.500 = 3500 - 1.000 = 2.500 kg
Lets say that 8 soldiers in transport with their gear weight a ton, theres still room for 2.500kg ( 2.5t ) of armament.
Thats enough for almost everything.
S8 pod launcher with 64 rockets
2 x 4 Ataka SACLOS AT missiles.
2 x 1 Igla launchers
GSh-30K with with 750 rounds of HEIT ammo.
S8 pod and Igla launchers are controlled by pilot, cannon and AT missiles by gunner. Cannon has two firemodes - low up to 300 rpm and high up to 2000 rpm.
Use optic from vanilla Mi24 with improvements - switching to TWS and zoom up to 3x.
No option for laser guidance since it has no capabilities for it.
Sounds good?

youre completely forgetting the fuel weight

Well I dont know if empty weight is weight without fuel. But I'm sure this can be balanced based on my posting above. The way it is now sucks so bad. Including sounds...

Well, we have two versions of the Hind. The one one Saaremaa is light armed due to balancing reasons.
Also it has 6 seats for infantry, serving as an transport helicopter aswell.
The heavily armed version can be found on BlackGold (dunno the layer off the top of my head) for example.
