[Request] Battle of Mogadishu community help

Introduction:
I guess everyone who played a bit of AAS Ramiel noticed that it is supposed to be a recreation of the Battle of Mogadishu. I for myself had some fun rounds there.
The only thing that is needed to have a full recreation of the Battle of Moadishu is a US army with the correct equipment.
Your help is needed!
This is mainly to check if anyone is willing to contribute to it. I have no experience with modding but if nobody wants to do it I will give it a try.
What I definitely need is someone who knows the used equipment on the US side.
I did some checking, mainly fotos, a few videos and wikipedia but couldnt find many trustable sources on the equipment.
I need:
-Ref pics of US 1993 Desert camo (and if possible someone who can make it)
-Infos about weapons that got used (what kind of rifles, launchers and so on)
-Infos about vehicles that got used (what kind of blackhawk for example)
If you have Ideas or want to contribute please just write it down here.

Seems like you want just Operation Gothic Serpent? Why shoot for a minimod and add several other levels too?

What else can you do other than Mogadishu for it? Afaik, that's the only real area fighting that took place?
EDIT: unless you mean making the 1991 Gulf War etc since it uses the same sorta kit which like I said
in the other topic, could be the next step but that also means crating an Iraqi Army faction and new maps.

That could be the next step I suppose.
EDIT: Not sure who misunderstood you Rabbit?
I like this idea, seems like rather small amout of effort that could bring something fresh into the game. Of course it will never be complete without fast ropes

I've created a Project Reality Wikia page on the equipment a 1983-era USMC would have had
http://projectreality.wikia.com/wiki/USMC_(1993)
However, in the Battle of Mogadishu, the USMC were only lightly equipped with 9 HUMVEEs, 3 M923 Trucks, 8 Littlebirds, and 8 Blackhawks.

I've been planing to make this for a long time ago, and I didn't have enogh time to even start doing it. Holidays start next week, in Argentina, so I hope Ican start it, I have a "design plan" but yes new models, weapons, kit geoms, textures will be needed. I was also working on a SP version of this battle in ArmA II
now that we will have servers with 100 players I need to re-think certain things, and balancing stuff

I take it you mean U.S. Army Rangers and Delta Force commandos? The USMC weren't present?

That could work, but I was think on more battles than just that, in whole in ORH over 40 US personnel alone were killed, another 150 wounded. There were more fights than just Gothic serpent.
Operation Restore Hope Casualties | U.S. Military Casualties
You could also do something like clan v clan fighting.

i doubt that you will need many new model work. It will mostly come down to re-texturing and proper kit load-outs. Shouldn't be too much work.
The coolest thing would be if you select a bunch of kits, and give those kits the delta force kit geoms

(which would have to be made). And the rest could be Rangers. (the old US army kit geoms with a proper re-texture should work fine)
I think Sniper, spotter,AP,Combat engineer would be a good fit for them.

Well ye you can do a few different layers for the map, in much the same way as I did different layers on The Falklands to represent the Initial Argentine Invasion of the Islands and the SAS Assault on Pebble Island etc, but what other maps could you do for the US Forces in Operation Restore Hope?

This is a sincere question.
Other than the map, what else would be different from what we already have in Ramiel?

I would have thought the plan is to use Ramiel, which was made originally to be Mogadishu and then was renamed later (should really be renamed back to Mogadishu now we have ARF and especially once we get proper 1993 US kit) but mainly that currently on the map in v1.0, its using modern weapons such as the M4s, which the US Army adopted sometime later, back then they had M16A
2's afaik (not to be confused with the M16A
4s the USMC use currently in PR, or the M16A
1s in PR:V) as well as a few other things like older camo, etc

You can do other villages, which would make it more of a ORH mod more than a BoM. You could add the Pakistani army too, which wouldn't be to hard as a lot of stuff they had is already ingame. Different parks of Mog to keep things from getting to well known.

Could have sworn marines were still around in at least airsupport, could have sworn I remember seeing cobras after the battle. As part of 10th mountain was there.

not to many models but at least, remove that iron plate that "covers" the gunner of the .50 cal humvees, I don't know which weapons had the HMMWVs in real life, but in the movie you can see that the lead and the second humvee had a .50 cal gun and the third humvee had a M60. so not really a now model, just modifying the existing ones.
Rhino just one question, my idea was to make a 4km map, put the US airbase in the SW corner, and the city in the NE corner of the map and make a city there, maybe a 1.5km x 1.5km city is it possible to make it that big withouth causing massive FPS drop, as it is in the corner of the map?, the rest of the map would be very very low detailed
just a simple idea of the map,
the yellow represents the desert, the black thingy at the top right would be the city, and the one at the right would be the base, the blue would be water, of course.

I would advice against a 4k city map. Ramiel works perfectly fine with a few changes to be more accurate to real mogadishu.
And don't base yourself for anything on the movie. It was a good movie, but far from a accurate documentary.

I know, it's like any other movie that tries to represent what actually happened, but no movie does it like a TV program series

From what I'm aware the airport is in fact pretty much on the edge of the city, surrounded by buildings?

yeah but as only the area near the market was involved in the firefight, that's why I came with the idea to make a small city in the corner of the map, but if you guys recommend me not doing it then I won't
