I remember playtesting it on a TG password night, and it seemed awesome, but nothing was ever heard of it again.

Did Royalmarines_Joe (I think that's who it was?) go MIA? Did he pass it on? Is it gone forever?!

I know, I was looking forward to that too. The current Jabal is fun....but compared to new ones it's quite unsophisticated...and ugly. The placement of that dam makes no sense, for instance. Right next to the ocean? And when completed, it'd flood the entire map? The new one was addressing all these issues.

Mapper who was working on it left, other devs to busy to finish it.

Im pretty sure Royalmarines_Joe was kicked from the Dev team because he plagiarized something, Or he got lazy about the map and was removed.

he was a plagiator and something. devs would know more on this subject

Any chance to see v2 map?

Boom! Mighty Banhammer is mighty and so powerful! So Jabal V2 is thrown in the trashcan.

In my honest opinion, Jabal is the one map that is still in 1.0 that shouldn't be. At least for me.

What about the Al Basrah v2 map that The Battle Arena server used to run? That map, again in my opinion, was superior to the current Al Basrah map.

As far as I know Terror made the changes without permission of the DEV's.

I got the impression that the original mapper wasn't around to give permission so he went ahead with it.

I did like the changes, but I fear Brit armor would be even more brutal with the greater view distance v2 had.

IS there any gameplay or pics of Jabal 2? that would be coolio!

To be honest Jabal is one of my faveourite maps, the biggest problem is the stalemate of trying to get East Beach, if both teams know what their doing your going to be there for hours.

That stalemate can also be some of the best fights, it allows one smart squad on the US team to really put a dent in a superior MEC team's attack. So many rounds of jabal I have played with an incompetent US team, but one or two smart squads that take and hold the hill, and therefor east beach, fighting off the hordes of MEC soldiers trying to take the position.

Funny.I made a threat with the exact same title two year ago . I love Jabal Al Burj and the infantry fights. There are so many vital hills you have to occupy to be successful. It's one of the maps where you have to control critical points on the map that aren't the flag areas to actually hold the flags.

I think flooding the entire map would be a bit of an exaggeration, going by the high ground in the area (often higher than the dam itself) but I think it safe to say the town itself would be submerged. This is a common theme in dam building though, with the relocation of people/towns often being one of the sacrifices. The building of the Three Gorges dam in China, for instance, saw the re-housing of over 1 million people (although being the world's largest dam, that is a remarkably high figure).

Still, your estimation isn't too far off. We'd be left with a bunch of islands, including a large river running from the reservoir, down to the sea where West Beach currently is, completely rendering the dam quite useless. There'd possibly be the same down the road leading to East Beach too.

It definitely needs a bit reworking. Maybe push the town further to the south-east, and place the dam where North Bridge currently is, whilst reworking the terrain to accommodate all of this? Of course, the river west of the new dam would need to be a dry bed too. Quite an extensive civil engineering project!

Oh, not to mention the fact, that I don't think anyone has ever built a dam right next to the sea like this.

Please let me know if anyone has.

I do like the Jabal map. Just one thing.

MEC has to get 3 full squads to dam... = US will never win that flag/


But overall I think Jabal is the best map for MEC. THe urban combat is intense!
