PB Disallowed driver kick.

Hi I get the disallowed driver kick and I cant figure out whats causing it. I uninstalled TS3 after enabling overlay and getting kicked.

I need to know what punkbuster checks for. Is it looking for specific .DLLs ? Scanning the registry?

I'm guessing you are using the most popular overlay, ts3overlay
I'm guessing you have windows vista or newer? please tell us,
also are you running 32 or 64 bit?

This happened to me but I don't remember how I fixed it.

----------------------------
Check these locations,

C:\Program Files\TeamSpeak 3 Client\plugins\ts3overlay
or
C:\Program Files(x86)\TeamSpeak 3 Client\plugins\ts3overlay

Are they completely empty directories?

ts3overlay can screw up these dlls in your system or system32 directory:

kernel32.dll
USER32.dll
guard32.dll

You might or might not have a backup of these files in c:\windows\winsxs

-------------------------------------------------

You might or might not have a directory C:\ts3overlay\logs
which might or might not have log files which might help.

Sorry I can't be of much help, hopefully someone comes along with better grasp on the problem.

BTW, TS3Overlay ALWAYS causes BF2 PB kicks. You have to use PlayClaw
Try PlayClaw TeamSpeak Addons - PlayClaw plugin for Teamspeak 3
or Overwolf's TeamSpeak 3 Widget
Overwolf adds Facebook, Skype, Video recording, Messenger and much more to your favorite games!

(I prefer overwolf)

regards,

Hi, I am not entierly sure whats causing the kicks, thats the problem. I am using win 7 64 bit. Teamspeak has been uninstalled and before loading BF2 I tried to shut down any processes I dont need, such as Skype origin messenger steam etc. .

Is there a way to see why punkbunkster kicks me, does it keep a log file somewhere, where it writes the offending file/process etc. down?

The error log isn't of use
C:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Local\PunkBuster\BF2\pb\pbcl.log

Have you tried manually giving punkbusterA and punkBusterB admin permissions?
Go to C:\Windows\SysWOW64
Find PnkbstrA.exe and PnkBstrB.exe , for both files:
right click, properties, give admin permissions , click apply.

Also, try Psyrus's PB fix, it might help:
https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f27-pr ... ction.html

The long way to do this:
1. uninstall punkbuster through control panel
2. download the two punkbuster installation files http://www.evenbalance.com/?page=pbsetup.php
OR
go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Battlefield 2 Complete Collection\mods\pr\pbsetup (or equivalent location if you have steam) and use the PB installer that comes with PR 0.97/0.98
3. Reinstall Punkbuster.
4. Update Punkbuster manually with PBsetup, http://www.evenbalance.com/?page=pbsetup.php
5. Then run Psyru's fix in the link above

That will bring you up to as clean a PB installation as possible right now.

Why is BF2 so buggy and horrible?
Why is PB so buggy and horrable?

Its a double whammy of bugginess and horraableness and now with WIN 8 you get compatibility issues on top of it.

HERE COMES THE PAIN !!!

It isnt punkbuster. If I end all the prozesses I dont need I eventually kill the one causing the kick. Can you all list the program that did you in for diallowed driver kick?

Start with any software that has a directx9 overlay.

... Playclaw, MSI Afterburner, old versions of FRAPS, Overwolf (should be allowed by PB), Steam overlay, etc.

The other option is to use gamebooster, and use the Occam's razor reductio ad absurdum strategy.

go to advanced tab, and manually shutdown HALF of your background programs and keep the other half running when you start PR. If you still crash, add half of the running programs to the nonrunning programs list, and try again. Occum's razor until you find which program it is.

Why don't you just post the disallowed program driver code, so we can actually narrow it down ?

>_>

:)
