First of all, after deleting the 1.0 Beta, I had problems with launching the 0.981 version of the game which i sorted out quickly by reinstalling the game. After launching the game I got excited as I managed to fix my little problem, but it did not last very long. The main problem is that when I connect to a server, I get the usual "Connection to server is lost" or something like that and the second time I try to the server it just crashes. No sound, no error, no nothing just like that.

I've tried reinstalling BF2 and PR 3 times, tried to download a file named RendDX9.dll and replace it. Nothing worked, but I got BF2 fixed.

Any ideas?

In short, your video settings are set incorrectly. Specifically your resolution and also possibly your refresh rate.


Edit your PR shortcut and ( what AfterDune said ) put this in it

Code: If you start in windowed mode and it CTDs, a Message will pop up telling you the problem. Take a screenshot or write this down and post it to this thread.
If you star in windowed mode successfully, go to your Settings and select the correct monitor resolution and refresh rate and apply the changes, then restart PR again to test.

The other way to do this:

Go to \Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles
you will see several subdirectories:

0001
0002
etc
Default

Go in to each directory and delete Video.con file

Start Vanilla BF2 once, sign in to your main profile, adjust video settings, apply, exit BF2, then start PR.

Well I've tried both of these suggestions and none of those seemed to work.

Launched in windowed mode and no message appeared. Selected the correct resolution and refresh rate and yet nothing again.

Also, the other way of doing it did not work out. But one question. Does it mean something if there is only 0001, default folder and 2 more files, but no 0002 folder?

Each new PLayername you log in with creates a new subdirectory, if you have only logged in with one playername, you only have 0001 . I've logged in with five player names, so I have 0001 through 0005.

Edit your PR shortcut and put this in it:

Dont just copy paste this, but adjust to your install location. Make sure you dont omit quotation marks or it wont work.
