Training?
If you are a new player to this mod, look no further. I will dedicate myself to train and improve your skills. All you have to do, is reply to this thread. And I will send you a PM about how we can get in touch.

If you dont want to wait for a PM, join this teamspeak: 213.133.97.46
Poke me or wait in the [PRTA]Training Channel.

I require you to have a microphone and some patience. If you have all that. Then I am sure I can give you a good training.

Dont be afraid. I was a newbie too back in the day. And I still kinda fail at the game.

But its an FPS how hard can it be?
Well, as much as bf2 is a simple game, with the standard mechanics, PR requires more from the player than those mainstream ones.

For one, communication is a big part. Identifying targets and informing your comrades is a core part of the gameplay.

The kits, and various weapons and vehicles have some challenging mechanics and needs some training and time getting used to.

Similarly, fob building and much more needs some hits and tips from someone seasoned.

Actually, this seems like a great idea, considering how there will be a lot of newer players showing up

So is it only Wicca that's going to be training newbies, or will other players help out as well?

Somehow I have a feeling that although I've been around PR for almost 3 years, I could use a lesson or two myself...

Same here. Been like 3 years with the game, as a SL couple times (not my favourite occupation though), could definitely learn some lessons and improve my military English. The only thing is I'm veeeery reluctant to install TS. Could we possibly do without it? Skype, E-mail, PM maybe?

Why would you not install TS? So much better than Skype when it comes to playing games with other people.

Dunno... Maybe a prejudice, or pure laziness. ;-)

I am also planning to step up and lead "training squads" for new players, mostly infantry, some mech/inf when available.

I'd really hope to see veteran players fighting each other over who gets to run the training squads, the future of this game community depends on it. You either step up here, in the next 2 weeks, or we're not likely to ever bring in this much new blood again, for both the game and our independent gaming clans.

Step up people, it's really our last chance to make a splash!

Perhaps in these lessons you might want to cover the wider game afoot.

Far too often on far too many servers, especially during the beta, have I seen every single squad other than my own all spawning on one FOB or bunch of rallies coming from one single direction towards and objective, creating a nice solid single direction for the opposing team to concentrate a defensive line on.

Games have VERY long time limits. Slow down squads. Except in certain specific circumstances there is no rush. Assess the situation. Assess what the team is doing. Take up a supportive stance to survey what's going on and THEN take affirmative objective acquiring action. You will have fewer wipes, you will coordinate with the rest of the team better, you squad will enjoy the combat it does get into far better because it actually sees success rather than wiping itself in a wall of disorganised glory over and over again, and ultimately - your team will succeed more often.

The primary objective is not always what you as a squad should be focused upon. In fact, in PR, it is often FAR more beneficial to the team to first cut the enemy's line of supply. If the enemy can not supply reinforcements to the objective then they can not defend it. If the enemy team happens to be making these simple mistakes, such as forming from one single FOB/direction, narrowing down that supply of reinforcements to it's location is often exceptionally easy.

Getting bodies on the flag is not always what needs to be done.

Further to that, don't always rage at a squad unless you've actually communicated with that squad on what they're up to. It may sometimes appear as if a squad isn't focused on the objective, but achieving secondary objectives such as eliminating supplies can cause a domino effect of 2,3,4 flags to occur as the enemy team can't do anything to get men into the field faster than they're dying. Find out what other squads are up to prior to shouting at them, you may find out that their activity is actually the reason that last flag capture went so easily.

Always remember the overriding objective though - have fun. If you're not having fun and you're getting frustrated enough to be sending angry voice comms to a squad, take a moment. Often these fits of emotion I see occurring cause people to make poor decisions, throwing themselves at the same strategy over and over again rather than changing tact. If the team is being uncooperative, sometimes it is better to evolve a new tact that cooperates with what the team seems to be doing rather than trying to bend the team into what you think they should be doing.

There will be many a new member in-game in the near future. Don't shut these people out. SLs, I implore you, teach the new folk in a friendly manner, we were all new once. It takes easily 10-20 hours of play for just the basic aspects of infantry play to truly sink into the basic squad member.

Be patient with new players.

Yeah. I have alot of experience in training players. And I understand its best to learn good manners and such.

However, I have grown quite accustume to angry players. They take the game seriously, and so long as they dont actually teamkill me :P I dont mind people being a bit angry.

Sent you a PM Corvec.

I'm not sure how I feel about a bunch of little Wicca jrs running around the servers
I'll have to compensate by retraining all the new players Wicca "trains". ;)

Seriously, this is a good idea. I'm sure the veteran SLs will man up during this time of need. I know I will. What better opportunity will arise to amass an army of minions. :)

I hope the manual is up and running before tomorrow. I would like to familiarize myself with all the new info before trying to lead. Any word on that?

OD-S will be running unlocked squads the whole weekend. What better time to get new blood and retain the awesomeness?

Ohhh Wicca ...
Do you remember the squad leader training you and Oskar (or just one of you I don't remember who exactly) used to do ? like we say every Saturday at 4 there is a training.

You should do the same here. Training groups are even better than just solo train someone.
