Constant BSOD; probable issue with audio settings and launcher

I cant avoid BSODs, I have an X-FI @ Ultra high with EAX = Bsod. Changed to Hardware@High = BSOD, changed to Hardware@High = BSOD without EAX, changed to Software@High with no EAX = BSOD.
Come on, this was working on beta, worked yesterday I played PR 0.98.
Is it REALLY taking the changes I do on the launcher? How can I know what sound I have ingame?
Why you removed it from the SOUND menu?
I get so LOW fps when I join in the server, then 5 seconds later, BSOD.

I have had the same thing happening to me after the cpu fix patch was released earlier today. I also have this sound card so I guess the problem lies there
Edit: If you still want to be able to play select "hardware" instead of your sound card and there will be no bsod

Where you selected the audio option? I've tried modifying my settings in the profile and pr launcher and still have bsod.

Try this, perhaps? Dunno if it'll work.
An audio application that uses the Portcls.sys file may stop responding when you run the audio application on a computer that is running Windows XP
Edit: Also, ancientman created a wonderful part of the launcher called "support", it'll grab all your relevant system specs for you and format it nicely... please use it

I changed my settings in the launcher. Remember to press apply after making the changes if you had problems with the settings saving

The difference is that I have X-RAM enabled...
I see where the problem is, I set Hardware, enter the game, close, open PR settings and there it is XFI again

God I hate when things that were working breaks.... I wasnt able to play PR in all day.
If I put Software or Hardware I get no sound at all. Gonna try new PAX suite....
But the strange thing is that THIS WAS WORKING ON BETA !!!

It worked in the final release aswell. The problem started occuring after that last patch to fix cpu issues

Also had this problem appear toady when trying to play PR for the first time in ages. I did try out the OpenAL swap for the wrapper (to no avail from what I recon). I also disabled the X-RAM in the registry and kept open the Teamspeak software.
I am not sure if any of the latter voodoo really made a difference. I was able to connect on the Xiangshan map near the end of a round and play the full round of Fallujah that followed.
Since I do not have any X-RAM on my card the registry tweak could only work if there was some serious f-up in the drivers. Not sure if there is a reasonable explaination why keeping Ts open should help but it was reported and so I tried. Will keep this updated when I get some more data.

Updated thread title to be more specific and less fatalistic.
We'll get this fixed for you. Hang in there.

I tried replacing the OpenAl32 and wrap_oal32 in the pr/bin directory and it didn't detect Creative XFI, with both.
I see the problem must be with the mumble integration........
I tried disabling XRAM and same, seems that it can reproduce very few sounds until it fills or something then crash.

Well as you said I dont know what vodoo is but I disabled xram, didnt reboot, and bsod'ed. Opened teamspeak, entered game, so far 10 min no bsod which is FAR a lot, compared to the 5 seconds that I got before.
I've read in another forum something about opening the channeld in exclusive mode... but thats not of my knowledge

Guys what soundcard IS working with PR 1.0 and has EAX (UltraHigh) capabilities? I'm fed up with this Creative Labs shit. Pls tell me and I'll buy the card.
Thanx in advance.

It is working, just let TeamSpeak open, that worked for me.

After changing PAX drivers today I experienced the same. Switching settings to "High" on Hardware worked for me though as a temporary solution until I find working drivers again to play on Ultra High.
So you say it works with TS opened? When I was testing today, my TS was always closed. Ill try it today with TS opened again.

Just wanted to give an update. Been plying with my current config for several map changes now and I did not encounter another BSOD. So either the TS helped, the disabling of the X-RAM (which I do not really have anyhow) in the registry does it or the new OpenAL DLL file did help.
Or I could just have been lucky but that would be quite a big coincidence with such reliable crashes vanishing alltogether.

Ye its weird. After I was able to join a server with lowering settings to high, I am now able to join servers in Ultra High again without problems. I had TS running first and thought this would have really fixed it for whatever reason. But I just tried without TS and is still works... lets see for how long.
Oh jesus I hate Creative so much...

So noone really knows what they did to fix the problem? I tried playing with very high again today and I still got the bsod
