1.0 Newbies and Teamwork

Playing since release today, I gotta say the teamwork (on NEW) was very good.
It was not chaotic at all, which I expected.
But it seemed like on NEW were not that many 'new' guys than probably on other servers.

I had some newbies in my squad, but it was always the same: They didnt talk, didnt respond in chat and didnt follow orders.
Don't know why, but they seemed to strike against orders or anything that is important in the game.

What are you experiences in the young 1.0 version ?
Chaotic rounds and teamkill-orgies ?
Or lovely scenes of veterans-help-newbies ?

Really want to know what happened on other servers :)

I've only played 1 round so far (PRTA), but there was a newbie in my squad that was 50/50 on the usage of Mumble. In one of the times he used squad chat, he typed "this game is so good". It wasn't necessary to gain his attention over lonewolfing because he stuck to the squad the whole time.

well this works for me always:

try talk over mumble first, if no response try talk over voip still no response, warn him by typing.. do you hear me on mumble? if so typ it out.. when he answers u can explain in 1 minute what mumble is for and tell him to follow the SL or whoever in his sq is close to him... if he does not typ back or talk back... kick him out of the squad.. soon he will realise his mistake and he will be a much better player then before... if not he does not deserve to play PR he can still play bf3

Arcturus that's exactly how it should be. I'm sure that there are many players out there who are very willing to work the the squad. PR is the game they always waited for but didn't get to know yet.

But I think its sad that there are a lot of who are not used to the gaming style of PR and are not willing to adapt the teamwork based gameplay. :/

Even if I really try to, and because of the lovely forum discussions about being politely and helpful, it fells very hard for me to be to those guys.
When they just ignore any advises and be that deaf lonewolf everyone of us knows.

I understand if some guys can't talk because of babies, parents or whatever but if guys don't acknowledge that they can hear you in squad chat it seems really hard to continue, even in nice to New players mode.

They can write that they cannot talk right now...
Tactical gamer server,tonight.....1 guy with name Imobi/something demolish 2 choppers in 5 minutes, runinng to me in pilot uniform, telling me to go at suicidal mission (you...go...there....enemies...shoot...you ..go ...there) i was having a need to :firing: at him at once but i removed from him and he started to follow me like
I dont know if he was :40_swig: or :24_smoker ...but...After 10 minutes of that Imobi man and automatically admins message to watch my language i lost focus on game.
Project reality is open to all who wants to play but there is some rules...For destroying vehicles on purpose there most be a kicking from server then ban. Same for shooting at own people at purpose but if some1 say sorry then you need to tell that man , no problem it happens...dont write/you killed me,stupid....wtf...this is not COD or BF3. Dont scream for medic if you know that you are surounded by ( that is one more reason to use mumble) enemy cause they are hearing your weepings, once ok....but 10 times...why to revive that kind of man?
Dont try to lead a squad if you are not experianced, ask sq leader for kit and tell him that you dont know to use HMG or Hat or even a medic cause medic is last hope for team.
So...
1. Use mumble -its not integrated in game because you got tastature to write with it
2.Ask sq leader witch kit you can use
3. Tell sq leader if you dont know to use some kits (some day there was 3 guys changing and trying to throw a hook on building and that last 15 minutes)
4.Listen to sq leader if he say*please stop speaking cause im speaking with other sq leaders* then stop to speak. There are Sq leaders who knows and have a plans but all plans can fall in water if rest of team doesnt play like it should so /dont blame Sq leader
We are all here for fun first but there are some rules and please obey it cause you will play at some servers where you will need to play by rules if you dont want to be kicked.
Im playing Pr from beginning *if i can remember* and still dont like to be a sq leader cause that is not a simple task.Every1 from us have a bad days (we got girls in PR too) reduced concentration or we are :40_swig :o r :24_smoker but we trying to be nice to people at servers.
Im :tired: going to sleep now, believing that this day will be better...

Only person to give me grief so far was someone who said they played PR alot and requested HAT as soon as they joined the squad, then gave me attitude when I told him not to request kits like that.

I learned a newcomer how to drive technicals and how to successfully navigate with his map.

I met people on the server (*NwA* or [NEW]) who had no clue about mumble and used in-game voip...Still refused to use it after explaining to them why it is more efficient way to communicate in PR...

played out just like a regular PR night yesterday. Some people didnt talk in my squads, some did. The talking comes later. Just remember how you were when you were new to PR.

I've worked in the mass marketing field,
In situations like this, where the individual self selects to respond to a flyer/survey/postcard and then takes the steps to download and install the game, ... in marketing you'd expect anywhere from a 7% to 40% closing rate. The difference between only converting 7% of new players into regular PR players, or converting 40% of new players into regular PR players is almost 100% dependent on their first impression and first interactions with other players in the game.

Keep that in mind,
1. Get as many eyeballs to see PR as possible
2. Get the eyeballs converted to proactive response (downloading and installing (BF2 and) PR )
3. Convincing them it's worth their time to play this game from the results of their first experiences.

IMHO we didn't do enough in step 1 prior to release, but step 3 is up to all of us.

I always go Rifleman unless I get told do get another kit, in which case I tell the squad that I'm new to the game (only been playing for a week).

I placed third on *NwA* yesterday when it was full, so I think I'm doing alright :] was in a good squad.

Well I am newbie.. I played version 0.6 and 0.7, and then just 0.9. After year ( ? maybe longer, maybe shorter) of derping around in BF3 and Red Orchestra 2 (with Rising Storm, which I personally love) and ArmA 2 and 3 beta I decided to come back to real war... I was really suprised by veterans (some PATR member with Wolf in nickname) and more guys which helped me in my first steps after long time and I really enjoyed it.. I love playing in squad, listening and doing orders etc. I tried 1.0 beta and I uninstalled it after 10 mins. easily because I played with "wrong" squad.. No body was talking, they was just running around.. But after today 5-6 hours gaming session Im in love with that game... Its amazing, immersive, epic... Dont know If you wanted opinion from NOOB side but here it is.. I am sorry about my english, Im out from school for 2 years now and I really dont need it at work so... :-) Hope I get into great squads again and get some epic moments :)
Also- i didnt use Mumble for like 1 hour, then I asked through VOIP if they are on Mumble and god damn! Im never doing same mistake (not joining mumble, especialy when its ultra easy to use it)

It joins mumble automatically, so you cant avoid it, pretty much.
