After playing some time with the russian weapons I noticed the AK family and the pecheneg have awful weapon sounds. The bad part is that awful scratchy crack echo after the initial firing sound.

I have not yet used the PKM in this version but I recall it having an awesome firing sound (some betas back) and since it is related to the pecheneg I REALLY hope the pecheneg sound is not used for the PKM too.

Also there appears to be a step backwards in quality for most weapon sounds. Most sounds I heard (russian weaponry, some explosions) appear poorly edited with that awful grainy clipping in the audio file.

The sound was awesome back then, why this new loss of quality?

I don't know about other people, but I sure as hell think the new sounds are a giant step forward. Can't speak for the AK's specifically as I haven't tried them out much but everything sounds generally a lot better.

It is even worse with the G3.

Clean, crisp, no clipping.

Now compare that to the new G3. scratchy as hell, no depth.

A lot of things are great in v1.0 but the sounds for the AK, Pecheneg, RPK and G3 are a collosal mistake that ruin the soundscape of this mod.

Appears to me someone either ripped sounds from his favorite movies without any regard for editing it properly or bought the sounds commercially, assuming if its a paid for sound source it has to be of good quality.

I assure you, Anders has spent countless hours and money on his library. I myself been one of the most critical developers about his sounds, have not noticed any distortion or clipping.

yeah these sounds are fantastic. make sure your speakers arent broken

I wont even comment, more than this. They're Not clipping.

My speakers are fine, and while many weapons do have indeed great quality (surprisingly the british assault rifles and the french ones) some weapon sounds have a really bad quality. Especially the AK or PKM. The AK firing sounds lacks a proper low frequence base and the highs are too exagerated.

Maybe you should try to play a bit with the BF sound settings like changing to high, ultra?
I think all the sounds are just awesome, [R-DEV]anders did a great job.

I used both eax on and off settings, always on high. And what I hear is that the ak firing sounds are scratchy and have too much on the high frequencies.

The sounds are fine. Sorry you feel different about it.

Anyways, there are no plans to change them in the near future.

Also I would like to point out that there are a lot of great sounds in this mod. But the AK family sounds so awfully bad that it ruins playing the russian faction for me
