Posted: 2013-08-04 06:39
by osn222
There are 2 servers apearing, but i don't think that they are public servers(always no players, 0 pings). No servers apearing on coop browser.
I tried to join using prspy and IP connections, but i got message: "you have failed to connect. please check your network connection(s) and try again." (2servers that apearing on my server browser have same message)
I had a 1311 error(file RendDX9x2 was problem), and i solved it.

Vanila Battlefield 2 works fine.
HELP!!! I reinstalled both PR and BF2 several time(more than 4 times)!!!

This might be a port forwarding problem with your router.
LITOralis.nMd;1890674']You have ports blocked, either through a software firewall or hardware router, of the ports used to query the master server list on the gamespy network.

Particularly to your problem you need to open this port:
28900 (Master Server List Request)

Other ports that could be opened:
- opening the following ports
UDP: 1024-1124,16567,27900,28910,1500-4999
TCP: 1024-1124,28900,29901

I'm guessing you are getting this error message?
- connecting via PRSPY: Game starts, then shows this message "Your connection to the server has been lost."

More info on GameSpy ports:
GameSpy Arcade - Play Hundreds of Online Multiplayer Games!

Have tons of my finest thanks good sir! :)

It seems to have been this TCP port:

28900 (Master Server List Request)

I just added that port (because of it's name) et voil?: 71 servers in the server browser. This particular port was not in the list of a German site I had used for setting up my port config, so thanks for pointing me at Gamespy directly, next time I'll know where to look!

I'll keep my eyes open for a few days, but it seems to have been fixed.

Should any other problems arise, I will start by using the other fixes you posted and only then will check back.

Swift reply, issue resolved - THANKS!
Please check your firewall and make sure the PRBF2.exe program is not blocked, and better to make a rule for it to allow it internet access.

Can you please tell us which 2 server are showing up in the server browser, it might give us a hint on how to fix this.

[EDIT: Please try to disable your software firewall and then starting PR and trying to connect online]Are you seeing basically this message:

Image

In almost all cases this is a router port forwarding issue, or a firewall blocking BF2.exe or PRBF2.exe

You should manually try to update Punkbuster, and when you start PR, alt-tab to deskto, start TaskManager and make sure that pnkbstrB.exe is running in the background
thepalerider wrote:Punk Buster not updated:
Before you go online to join a server
you should:
1. Download pbsvc
2. Start pbsvc installer, you should see options for install, uninstall, test.
3. Run the Uninstaller, then delete the PB folder to remove any leftover files.
4. Restart your computer.

5. reinstall punk buster files with pbsvc( if your using Vista DO NOT set compatibility to XP, run as admin ok)
6. After pcsvc installs, click the "test" option to check the punk buster install you just did.
5. Make sure it comes back "all green"
6.Download pbsetup
(pbsvc DOES NOT install pbsetup.
If your using Vista DO NOT set compatibility to XP, run as admin ok)
7.Create a pbsvc installer shortcut AND pbsetup program shortcut on your desktop.
8.Run pbsetup (from the shortcut on your desktop) add BF2 to the games list, then hit update."

(pbsvc installs the punk buster 'engines' or applications.
PBsetup installs the files/gas the 'engines run)

Check Punkbuster B is set to auto re-start.

W7 users = In services ( inside the 'log on' tab) check box which states ?€œAllow this service to interact with the desktop.

Firewall not set up (open) for BF2 and punk buster
UPDATE YOUR FIREWALL

Make sure your firewall has permission for:

BF2.EXE
PBSETUP.EXE
(search for your location)

PNKBSTRA.EXE
path:
C:\WINDOWS\SYSWOW64\PNKBSTRA.EXE
or (not 100% sure but for 32 bit O/S I think it's)C:\WINDOWS\SYSWOW32\PNKBSTRA.EXE
PnkBstrB.exe
path:
"C:\Users"your user name here"\AppData\Roaming\PnkBstrB.exe"
Don't forget to open for BF2VoipServer as well:
C/Program Files/EA Games/Battlefield 2/BF2VoipServer.exe

As far as ports go:
Make sure these ports are open on your router (my router 'D-link Gamers lounge' auto opens these ports for BF2)

TCP
80,Battle recorder port
4711,Remote console
29900,Client+Server
29901,Client Not in use yet
29920,Server Standard Port
28910, Client
44301= PnkBstrA
45301= PnkBstrB

UDP
1500 - 4999,General use
16567,Game port
27900,Stats port
29900,Gamespy port
29910,gamespy port
27901,Stats port
44301 = PnkBstrA,
45301 = PnkBstrB,

55123,VOIP ports
55124,VOIP ports
55215,VOIP ports

Not sure what ports (TCP/UDP)
port for PnkBstrA = 44301
port for PnkBstrB = 45301
should be, so opened for both
Good luck
And an update for PR 1.0, make sure firewall has exception for PRBF2.exe

[EDIT: Please try to disable your software firewall and then starting PR and trying to connect online]

I think it's a firewall issue, please try to disable any software or hardware firewall you have, then try to go online.
but small chance it's a PunkBuster issue.
I mean, if you start vanilla BF2 and can join a punkbuster enabled vanilla BF2 server online, then it's not punkbuster causing your problem in PR.
I think you have PRBF2.exe blocked in your firewall, but BF2.exe is not blocked. That needs to be fixed.

PRBF2.exe is not blocked by firewall. And joining a PB enabled vanila BF2 server works.
and i had no issues with v0.98

Can you check this thread again in about 24 hours?
I can't figure out the problem here, need to study it.

Please check again that port TCP 29900 is open in your router.

Can't finde servers PR v1.0.31.0

I bought Battlefield 2 in Origin. I normally played earliest versions of PR. But now when PR v1.0 is released I don't see any servers. I tried to connect to server using prspy but saw this window: "You have failed to connect. Check your network connection(s)".
I hope I'm not the only person who has that problem and you will help me.
Thanks in advance.

similar if not same problem:

I've tried with and without firewalls, and have played successful games on this computer and on this network.

9 times out of 10 when i start the game only one .ru server shows up with 0 ping. servers on my favorites list are red.

on occasion the server list is populated properly, but every time i try to join a game that is full (manually or with auto deploy) the ping gets higher and after 2-3 attempts refreshing will only show me the single .ru server.

i am up to date as of today (forgot version number)

Try clicking the PR icon, instead of using PRSPY.

i just managed to connect (for the first time today) to the HOG server but was kicked out as soon as game loaded.

hit refresh and no servers came up again.

This has happened to me before when the initial login failed due to Firewall issues. Make sure pr.exe and bf2.exe are white listed.

I tried these:
Reinstall(both pr,bf2)
Firewall disable, PRBF2 to be not blocked
Turn off antivirus program
Restart computer
PB update
Ports to be opened
Try to connect with ip, prspy
Nothing works.
And v0.98 and vanila BF2 works fine as normal.(Perfect condition)
I once got 1311 error, and i solved it by replacing the file that have problem.(once accidently skipped file verification stage before solving the problem)
BTW, thanks for helping me.

Several years ago before I was a tesh support volunteer this problem surfaced and they found a solution:

try this first:
'[R-DEV wrote:AncientMan;1710907']The problem seems to be that bf2.exe isn't detecting mods properly, at least not in the way it should be. Not entirely sure the cause of this issue yet, and why it only just started happening, but the simple fix is to replace your steam bf2.exe with the retail bf2.exe. A proper fix will come in the next version of PR, but that is a fair while off yet, so use this fix in the meantime.
  1. Download: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/33586919/bf2_retail_exe.zip
  2. Browse to: <install directory>\Steam\steamapps\common\Battlefield 2
(<install directory> being whereever you installed Steam to, could be C:\Program Files for example)
  3. Copy and paste "bf2.exe" to back it up, and extract the bf2.exe out of the newly downloaded .zip file and overwrite bf2.exe in the steam directory.
here is the support thread for this solution:
https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f27-pr ... steam.html

--------------------------------------------------

Anyone have any ideas or experience with this problem?

NOt sure how vBF2 and pr 0.98 would work and PR1.0 not work, we have not changed any network heuristics, i.e. antivirus and firewall detection should not see any difference, your ISP heuristics should not see any difference.

Do you have any filters set in the vBF2 server browser?

For in game server browser:
16567 is the standard connect port.
29900 is the standard query port.

You have to make sure those are getting to/from your PC.
