Constant CTDs

Evening, experienced FH2 player here, thought I'd give PR a try a few weeks ago. Wasn't having any issues until 1.0, where I have encountered constant crashes to desktop. These always happen in-game (not during menus or loading), and seem to be a graphics-based problem.

What happens is I will crash to desktop, and my desktop resolution will be 640x480 or whatever the smallest possible is in XP. There will be a PR button on the taskbar (as if I have alt+tabbed out) but when I click this, it disappears. I can still hear players on Mumble before I click the PR button, which I always do in the hopes it will work.

So I revert back to 1920x1080, load up PR again, and play for another 30 mins or so before the whole thing happens again. Sometimes I get that "cleaning resources" message others have gotten, sometimes not.

My system:

Windows XP Pro
2002
Service Pack 3

AMD Phenom II X4 955 processor
3.21ghz
3.00GB of RAM
ATI Radeon HD 5450 video card

I know this is not the best card for gaming but I'm hoping there is something I can do to at least minimize how often I get a CTD. I can live with once or twice a day but right now, it's the usual first 10-20 minutes of a round sorting out a squad and driving logi trucks and all that shit and then I get a CTD. Fire PR back up, wait 10 mins for an open slot, try to find a new squad, play for 20 mins, crash again, and repeat. I would really appreciate it if anyone has any tips for me. Any more information you need just tell me how to provide it and I will post it up.

Cheers,

Andrew

Similar issue here with XP past 2 nights with frequent CTD's.
I dont have the video issues but I run an Nvidia card. Spec in my profile.
I haven't tried with 1.0.31 yet, but will report back.

EDIT: Reporting back 1.0.31
On the first server I tried to join I had an immediate CTD (one of the new maps), didnt even finish loading the map. Without rebooting I reloaded and joined a different server and ran through 2 maps (Korengal & Silent Eagle) for almost 2 hours until the server crashed us all out. I had a CTD on Korengal prior nightafter about 15 minutes.

Christie.Front.Drive,
lower your video settings to all low, try to run at a reduced resolution.
Also, you should try to minimize background functions that use video RAM.
To the point, seems like you are running out of Video RAM.

Try removing all the windows UI graphics options, basically make your winXP look like WinNT, you can use this: Tweak UI - Free download and software reviews - CNET Download.com and turn off all the windows stuff, like windows shadows, mouse shadows, maximize windows animation, etc.

Also try Razer GameBooster Razer Game Booster Free Download, Speed Up PC for Top Gaming Performance to shutdown unneeded background processes.

3. Download Bitsum ProcessLasso Free. Make sure you download the correct version, Free 32 bit or Free 64 bit, Process Lasso - Automate and optimize process priorities, CPU affinities, power profiles, and more!
-- Start PR, JOIN AN ONLINE SERVER, alt tab to desktop, open ProcessLAsso window, right click on PRBF2.exe, PRLauncher.exe, and PRMumble.exe and pnkbstra.exe and pnkbstrB.exe and give them default priority status of High, set the PRBF2.exe to gaming mode, and give them high or higher access to RAM.
Unpark your CPU Cores in ProcessLasso->Options->Configure CPU Core Parking->UNpark your cores.
After this, you have to assign PRBF2.exe to a core other than Core0.

'[R-COM wrote:LITOralis.nMd;1927766']Antol, your English is very good, very interesting post I had not thought of this before.

I have a permanent solution possible, let me write it up and I'll post again soon.

Download Bitsum ProcessLasso Free. Make sure you download the correct version, Free 32 bit or Free 64 bit, Process Lasso - Automate and optimize process priorities, CPU affinities, power profiles, and more!
-- Start PR, alt tab to desktop, open ProcessLasso window, right click on PRLauncher.exe, PRBF2.exe and and give them default priority status of High, set the PRBF2.exe to gaming mode, and give both of them high or higher access to RAM. Right click on PRLauncher.exe and select CPU Core, give it access to Core0, Apply, close the submenu. Right click on PRBF2.exe and select CPU Core, give it access to Core1, Apply, close the submenu.

Adjust the Core number by how many physical cores your CPU has,
if you have a dual core,
Put PRLauncher on the first core, Core0
Put PRBF2.exe on the second core, Core1

if you have a triple core,
Put PRLauncher on the second core, Core1
Put PRBF2.exe on the Third core, Core2

if you have a Quad core, you should probably not need this.
Put PRLauncher on the second core, Core1
Put PRBF2.exe on the Third core, Core2
-------------

These steps will either make your PC faster and have you sending me subscriptions to Beer of the Month Club | Microbrewed Beer Clubs Since 1994 or it will completely break your PC.

Also, before attempting any of this, please post your system specs from the PRLauncher->Support->Copy to Clipboard menu.
