WinXP BSOD Updating to 1.0.31 with >2GB Parameter set

After frequent CTD's last night I set the /3GB parameter as detailed here to see if could help. https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f27-pr ... b-ram.html
before booting tonight.
Ran PR and there was an update.
During the update process system BSOD.
Running PR again produced:

Code: Select all

Project Reality Log File
PRUpdater.exe started at: 2013-08-04T23:12:11

Error: 59: Update failed. The required version for this update does not match the installed version. Installed: 1.0.30.0, Required:
I tried to run prudater.exe directly and the system BSOD right away.

Removed the /3GB switch and still had same Error 59 running PR, but I could at least run prupdater clean to be informed it had to be run from prlauncher :(

Ran the PR1.0 setup again and then menu came back up and installed patch without issue.
I'll leave that /3GB switch alone for now :)

In hindsight - could I have just deleted the Temporary updater files from the folder to get around the Error 59?

Many thanks for the detailed post.
I'll kick this up to the PRLauncher coders to look into this week,
will update the /3GB parameter thread as needed.
In hindsight - could I have just deleted the Temporary updater files from the folder to get around the Error 59?
I got to ask about that one myself. Will post back.

Thanks,
it would be good to be able to either clean out a failed update due to BSOD or some other reason (power failure, internet failure or zombie attack) or have the startup/updater rollback in some manner.

I'll also re-state that I didn't uninstall, just ran the setup again. It didn't run through the import profile portion and my settings were retained.
So that was nice.

Cheers
