PR very laggy and jumpy
Posted: 2013-08-07 01:27
by USMCMIDN
When I play PR it is very laggy and jumpy. For some reason my character is always "jumping" about when ever I move or shoot and sometimes the game just stops. I have lowered my quality to low on everything and turned off the lighting and shading as well as decreased the view distance.
Any suggestions?
I am running...
Processor: Intel(R) Cote(TM)2 CPU 6400 @ 2.13 GHz
Memory: 2.00 GB
System Type: 32 Bit Operating System
NVIDEA GeForce 7300 LE

I'm running the same thing but XP and 4gb memory. Try lowering your game resolution. Hurts as a solution as it makes the game look a lot less crisp but only thing that helped for me after all my settings were as low as they go. Hopefully the devs will help us lower end PC guys out with lag problems in future updates.

Seems to be working now. I do not know why I did not think of that.

You only need a better graphic card !

You can try a lower population server like TG it is only 90 players instead of 100 but it seems to make a sizable difference.

USMCMIDN and tankninja, I'm not going to let you guys top playing PR,
post your system specs from the PRlauncher, ->support->copy to clipboard, paste it here.
We're going to tweak the **** out of your PCs to get you up to a decent minimum framerate and average framerate.

Just wanted to say, as LITOralis advised me in another thread, I did a few things that can help with FPS.
- Dropping my resolution from 1366x768 to something lower.
- Installing the Razer Gamebooster:
Razer Game Booster and starting the game through that.
- Lowering settings.
Finally when you have PR running, Alt-Tab and open the Task Manager. Right click "PR Launcher" and scroll to 'Set Affinity...". Assign one of your cores (In my case Core 0).
Right click PRBF2 and 'Set Affinity..' now assign the rest of your cores (in my case Core 1, 2 and 3).
Not sure exactly which of these things works the best but I did all 4 steps and now it runs perfectly. Just bearing in mind, setting the affinity has to be done each time you load the game but there is probably a program that can automatically do it.

I was away, sorry for the delay,
USMCMIDN, your graphics card is at end of life. I can't think of any way to get that card to run PR at this point. It has 64Mb of video RAM, PR needs a minimum of 190MB to run smooth on all low settings.
If you want suggestion son a hardware upgrade and some places to buy a cheap GPU at a cheap price, please PM me and I'll help you out.
Secondly, with only 2GB of RAM using the RAM hog that is Windows Vista, you need to shutdown many many background processes, including some core Windows processes, to free up enough RAM to be able to play PR1.0 .
There are a few ways to do this, from manually shutting down each prcess to using software to selet which to shutdown, or using a registry entry file to shutdown the files as a group. ALL of these methods use the same source of information, the BlackViper guide to Windows Vista SP2 Services.
? Black Viper?s Windows Vista Service Pack 2 Service Configurations
THE FOLLOWING IS A EXPERIMENT AT YOUR OWN RISK I CAN NOT PROVIDE TECH SUPPORT BESIDES GENERAL ADVICE SECTION IT CAN ALSO BREAK YOUR INTERNET CONNECTION IF YOU DO NOT FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS PROPERLY:
USMCMIDN, before proceeding any further, I MUST KNOW which Service PACK for VIsta you have installed. You have WIndows Vista, or Windows Vista SP1 or Windows Vista SP2. On your desktop, right click the "My Computer" icon, select Properties from the context menu. It will tell you on that page which Service Pack is installed under the Operating System Info section.
IF you have SP2 installed:
Go here:
? Windows Vista SP2 Services Registry Files
Download both of these:
!SAVE THEM TO YOUR DESKTOP!
Default Windows Vista SP2 Services Start Key:
Download the Vista Home Premium SP2 32-bit File:
Default Vista Home Premium SP2 32-bit Start v2.00.zip ~ Version 2.00 ~ May 31, 2009
?Safe? Windows Vista SP2 Services Start Key:
Download the Vista Home Premium SP2 32-bit File:
Safe Vista Home Premium SP2 32-bit Start v2.00.zip ~ Version 2.00 ~ May 31, 2009
The above are our escape plan if anything we tweak breaks the registry.
Next, we make a complete backup of your current registry:
Please follow the directions in this tutorial exactly, and save the /reg file to the desltop again, using a simple file name to remember:
How To Backup the Registry in Windows Vista
Next we want to create a System Restore Point:
Create a Restore Point for Windows 7 or Vista?s System Restore
Next, we download the registry tweaker, Safe2.0 by WindowsClub forum:
Tweak Windows 7 Services with SMART Utility : HomePage
download , install, run
Based on the recommendations of the BlackVipers Service Configuration Guide, the utility offers 3 sets of pre- configured tweaks :
1. Safe
2. Tweaked
3. Advanced or BareBones
You get to choose, try either Tweaked or Barebones. If your PC can connect to internet and your antivirus still works, and PR starts, thenyou should be saving several hundred MB of RAM, which should speed up your system.
I suggest you download and install Razer GameBooster, then you'll need to shutdown every single non-Windows program running in the back ground when playing PR also.

For tankninja and USMCMIDN,
one of the easy ways to save video RAM is to turn off al the eye candy in the windows user interface.
for XP:
Tweak UI - Free download and software reviews - CNET Download.com
use this as a guide: Go to table C, disable all that eye candy ****:
Get IT Done: Tweak UI for Windows XP allows for more customization - TechRepublic
for Vista, 7, 8 :
Ultimate Windows Tweaker, a TweakUI for Windows 7 & Vista
use this as a guide:
Optimize Windows with Ultimate Windows Tweaker | Windows.AppStorm
turn off all the visual eye candy, such as shake, aero, shadows under explorer menus:
