Crashes after a few minutes of gameplay

Hi !
My PR crahes after a couple of minutes of playing in a server. It just closes down and the "cleaning bf2 resources" message comes up.
Reinstalled PR couple of times, on steam version and on disc version. Both times installs fine, updates but just crashes after gameplay.
Also updated drivers.

I have 500 mb of video memory, old video card haunting there.
I should mention that I have played PR for a long time on this rig and never had this problem before. (played with the new, crappier card also just fine. Just this newest version is giving me grief.)

Try playing PR in windowed mode with lower resolution and lower graphics settings, my guess is you are running out of VideoRAM and the game is crashing because of it.
You also should consider defragging that hard drive, if you just installed the 6GB of PR onto a nearly full 1TB drive, the PR files are probably highly fragmented and scattered throughout the entire drive.
To defrag, try this:
'[R-COM wrote:LITOralis.nMd;1935471']Obviously you have a pretty decent setup,
Can you start vanilla BF2, login and join some multiplayer servers all on different maps, let us know if you also suffer very long load times?
Let's take a guess and say you either/and
1. have highly fragmented files in the directory C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Battlefield 2 Complete Collection and the \mods\pr subdirectories.
2. Have a highly fragmented Pagefile.
---------------------
Defrag your hard drive.
The default windows defrag utility is ok, but not great.
You can buy some defrag utilities , some are great , some are ok.
You can download this FREE defrag program called MyDefrag from
MyDefrag v4.3.1
and then download this custom defrag script and edit it as you need
(i.e. add your battlefield 2 complete collection directory to the front of your hard drive in the derfagging script)
[Script] Games Optimization Script for Data Disk
5. Check your Page File, if set to a sliding value, I suggest
deleting pagefile.
rebooting.
resetting pagefile manually to a single minimum/maximum.
Here is the raw information to determine your correct pagefile:
How to determine the appropriate page file size for 64-bit versions of Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 R2
And here is a video tutorial to figure out your correct pagefile size:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zAhn-WaW66M
then optionally:
manually setting it to a single minimum/maximum, and getting a defrag progam that will move the pagefile to the beginning of your hard drive. A free option:

As I said, I have played PR with this video card before with no problems. Also, I run on high res but my settings are all at the lowest, the game runs fine even with a little higher settings but I have them on the lowest.
Defragging would be a good idea, I'll give that a try. I'll also try lowering the resolution.
Thanks for the help thus far !

Well, neither defragging or running in windowed and at lower resolution helped.
Any ideas?

Tribaja, you have almost the exact same system specs and exact same problem as this thread:
https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f27-pr ... artup.html
Are you 100% certain you have this suoritin? Processor: Intel Pentium III Xeon -suoritin (Physical: 2, Logical: 2)
Also, did you check your page file? "Page File: -1341231104,00 B" that is an error either in the PRLauncher retrieval of the info, or the system has a problem reporting the size of the page file.
Could you please try this:
'[R-COM wrote:LITOralis.nMd;1935991']Let's try another approach:
- 1. Write down your BF2 login name and password
- 2. Rename the directory C:\Documents and Settings\George2\My Documents\ProjectReality\Profiles to C:\Documents and Settings\George2\My Documents\ProjectReality\ProfilesBackUp
- 3. Start PRLauncher. THe profile importer function will start, do NOT import your profile from vBF2, instead use the retrieve profile from GameSpy option, and enter login name and password when prompted.
- 4. In PRLauncher, Click Options button,
In the VIDEO TAB
Choose the smallest resolution with the correct refresh rate for your monitor.
Untick the Fullscreen tickbox.
Turn Off the AntiAlias
Disable VSync
Set View Distance to 75%
CLICK APPLY.
In the GRAPHICS TAB
Set all settings to LOW.
CLICK APPLY.
CLICK CLOSE.
- 5. CLICK PLAY. Test PR.

Actually, it shows a wrong processor now that I look at it.
I actually have intel core duo E8600 @ 3.33ghz
Also, the thread you linked, I have read it already and when I reinstalled I didn't use the importer on either times and retrieved it the method mentioned.
Paging file is fine I think, it was 4049, changed it to 6144 ?la instuctions in the video.
Also, it seems that its a little better with the lower resolution, I've managed to get an hour or 2 of gameplay in today couple of times, but most times it just crashes within 10 minutes of playing.
EDIT: Yeah, still crashing after changing the page file.

ASUS EAH6450 Series
Do you have the version with a fan, or the one without a fan?
If you have the one without a fan, I suggest downloading HWMonitor:
HWMonitor CPUID - System & hardware benchmark, monitoring, reporting
Start HWMonitor before PR, you might be overheating your GPU, causing your game to crash.

I have the fanless one.
I just finished playing some PR (ended with a crash ofcourse) and checked out this post. Downloaded the monitor straight away and its sitting at 53 c.
Will play with it on now.

I don't think its overheating, last night before my internet crashed I played for a while and the card was 78c, just played now and it crashed with a temp of 68c (Max)

No more ideas? Oh well, I'll probably figure it out at some point.
Thanks for the help though ! Gave me some ideas of where to look for the problem.

I'm pretty much out of ideas.
you could try disconnecting your USB headset before you turn on your PC, then try playing PR.
It's possibly a "bad" USB audio driver, or audio driver conflict.
