On the map loading screen, the title and the size of the map is displayed above the map. For 2 x 2 maps it says 2 km^2 where it should be 4 km^2. I haven't tested it for all maps, but I think for 4 x 4 maps it also incorrectly says 4 km^2 where it should be 16 km^2.
I know there might be more important issues, but it would look a bit better if the math was right.

We know, will be fixed in a future update. Not necessarily the next one as it involves changing quite a few images which will result in quite a big download.
