I've been running PR pretty good so far ever since I got around the ISO install ordeal by just installing it through Desura; however, I guess a new update came out since ver. 1.0.34.0. I tried to install it, and have had no updating problems; but, during the install I got a weird (can't remember the code) error that said: "Cannot install (I think it was PRupdater.exe) because it's being used by another program", and pretty much stopped there.

So I restart it and then it wouldn't even let me get to the PR launcher screen. It kept crashing with the "PRlauncher.exe is not responding".

So I restart my PC, same thing.

I used the 'Verify Files' option on Desura and it reinstalled a few files and then repaired the Windows .NET Framework and C++ Visual bullshit.

Now, I can get the launcher to work; but now it immediately tries to update and gives me an "Error 59: Update failed. The required version for this update does not match the installed version. Installed: 1.0.29.0, Required: 1.0.34.0"

What the Hell?

ETA: Tried to force the game, launcher, and updater to work. Going to uninstall then reinstall. My guess is when I verified and reinstalled the files through Desura it replaced the damaged or missing files with older 1.0.29.0 files...

I sent in a ticket to the PRLauncher Dev, see if he wants to tackle adding the logic needed to not have others have this problem if they restore a Desura installation

For future reference, you had two separate problems,

To fix the above problem:
you can delete mods/pr/update.lock file, and it will restart the interrupted update.

The second problem is the Desura problem and is going to quite some time to fix, if we can even find the time for such a large task that shouldn't affect more than a few people.

Yeah... Sorry about that. I got caught up in checking out PR's new features after I fixed it.

I think I've fixed this problem though by deleting the LOCK file in PR's directory. After reinstalling it still said the same Error 59 code, so I deleted the LOCK file and BAM, PR launcher appears again.

It seems to have updated properly now. I'll see if it lets me play...

this is the error i receive when i try to launch the game. i need to update my profile in order to play online. it will not let me connect to the servers using my profile. please help

I honestly don't know what's going on here.

Are you logged into windows with a windows account with admin privileges?

DO you have customized read/write privileges for your PC for work related security?

I'd try deleting everything inside the C:\users\eric\appdata\temp\projectrealityupdate directory.

then rebooting , logging in as an admin, and attempting to update again.

I had the same error message as Assassin_74 is getting: (Error 57: update failed. unable to copy update executable to temporary directory) I opened my Comodo* quarantine file and found the installer files in there held as not recognized by Comodo and waiting for me (user) for final classification.

As this might not be isolated to Comodo products alone, anyone else having installer errors might want to check their firewall before deleting files in hidden folders such as the application data folder.
