[Request] Map Making Tut 1.0

Good evening gents,

I have made a few maps before in the .8+ and .9+ days, mainly training, and clan skirmish maps. I know my way around the editor quite well, and have re-installed it numerous times with no error (due to re-formatting etc).

I am asking if you could either update the old editor set up thread here, or make a new one that works for 1.0, as the last one hasn't been updated in 2 years, and seems not to work for 1.0.

Some of the steps on the current tutorial are innacurate, but most notably when I am mapping I either get "memory exceeded" errors, or just regular editor dumping after barely start texturing.

My computer has 12 GB of ram, but as I stated earlier I have never had problems until now, and there are missing steps in the current tut.

If you guys could help it would be greatly appreciated. If my thread is in the wrong area I apologize, and feel free to move it.

the editor cant handle more then 1GB Ram unless you use the updated .exe found in the forums

This is the thread Andy is referring to. Give that a try. It should make the editor a LOT more stable.

We really need an updated tutorial :)
After 1.0 i started to map again but after following the "set up bf2editor for PR" tutorial the editor isn't set up properly.
When i go into the "modmanager" i can't choose what should be loaded and what not. To load stuff (Static etc.) into the editor, I have to go to \battlefield 2\bf2editor\settings\settings.cfg or something, and edit a config file.
In one point of the tutorial it says "Copy all files from "mod\pr\readme" into your PR_edit folder. Which causes my editor to crash while loading.
I've still managed to get it working but i'm not sure if it's working 100% correct.

Btw, does anyone know what i have to put in my map so the choppers are getting repaired on the helipad?

With the mod manager thing for 1.0, you could just go to your Content folder in your pr_edit directory and extract all the object zips into a new Objects folder in your pr_edit directory and it should work the same as before.

Also, I use the BF2 helipads and they work fine.

Yeah, that appears to be the case with the new zips. You actually need to manually create a objects folder and extract the object zips into that folder.

At one point I might bring this up in the RCON forum to get done. Cause it indeed needs an update. But also things such as lightmap samples could use a update. If I only I had more time :(
