How to disable integrity check for server.zip folder?

Before v1.0 me and my mate used to play this game slightly modified. We have our favourite map (Jabal Skirmish); I create local server, he joins my IP directly and we hunt each other only two of us. It does quickly get boring to play the same MEC vs USMC, so I asked on the forums if there was a way to change the factions. People answered that it is done by modifying init.con file in ...\mods\pr\levels\jabal\server.zip\init.con. A pretty simple modification via notepad and we used to have a great time playing the map for different factions.
Now that v1.0 is out, our fun is over. The integrity check runs before the game is launched, finds that server.zip folder is modified and prohibits us to join IP.
I do realize it is done as a measure to combat hackers (probably), but I personally see little point in it. If my init.con factions don't match the server's init.con factions, I won't be able to connect to the server (a client's game CTDs if he forgets that he still has modified init.con).

Please people, help. We damn want to play Jabal Al Burj as French forces vs ARF, or any other faction.

Not sure but MD5 checks are now moved to clients and possibly remote connection to validation server, so servers are now offloaded of running MD5 check against every player.
The only way might be to bypass PRLauncher and try to start PRBF2.exe and see what happens.
Bottom line Devs with not reveal or allow this to be bypassed by anyone, so we can only speculate.
Edit: Just tried and see what you get
You can also try making a shortcut with BF2.exe and modifying it to start PR as it used to be before.
Code: Select all
"D:\Program Files\Battlefield 2\BF2.exe" +modPath mods/pr
But I doubt that will work either.
Always remember not to modify original files inside mods/pr folder, but always make a copy of complete pr folder and name it pr_test or alike, and then work from there.

just copy the map, rename it to 'jabal_custom'(with level renamer tool, not just the foldername) or something. Custom maps doesn't get checked. And if you both have that map then it will all works fine.

We are getting closer here, thanks guys. But the problem is that I haven't got a faintest idea what "level renamer tool" is, where can I get one, and how to use one. Thanks for assistance.
EDIT. I found it, thanx guys.

You could also go and rename mods/pr to mods/pr_edit, there's no file verification when running with different mod names.

Hmm, does the gamefront link work for you, as it just says "File not found, you will be redirected to
http://www.gamefront.com" here.

Bump:
Since most links with LPP apps seem to either be down or not have all the needed files, BergerKiller gave me a zip with all of them, uploaded into his own dropbox and asked me to post it where it might be needed. So here it is:
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/3681706/LPP%20Collection.zip
Lots of useful tools in there.
