Crossfire 1GB+2GB

i was told that if i add a 2GB AMD 7770 to my current 1GB AMD 7770 that the cards will only run at 1GB?
just wanted to clarify before i go spend da bucks

That is correct.
Crossfire of two (or more) discrete GPUs will always fall back to the lowest amount of VRAM on any GPU card in the Crossfire setup.
Also,
Crossfire of two (or more) discrete GPUs will always fall back to the lowest clock speed of the slowest GPU.
Which might be a consideration if you were looking at the HD7770 Gigahertz edition.
This is do to the symmetrical loads placed on each card, and to keep them in sync, they must run with same amount of VRAM and clock speed.
Think of it as a two cylinder engine, each GPU is a cylinder and it has to work perfectly in time with the other cylinder.

also, you have to have a PSU that is on the beefier side to support 2 cards, so check that
also when you ultimatly buy it, be sure to get the latest beta drivers from amd. they have included framepacing which smoothens out the delivery of the frames
