Okay, I'm curious why this item is not used very much in some situations. This small round object that goes boom that can take out 3 or 4 enemy close together.
Now I know there are terrible nade chuckers out there. But with everything I have ever done in PR I ALWAYS practiced with them. And grenades.. was no exception. I have thrown many of them over the years and one thing I have learned is you must know how far a grenade can be thrown, how high and so forth and when you throw one, know where all friendlies are.. and holler out in local mumble "grenade" or "grenade going out" BEFORE you actually toss it. Why? because before you commit you may hear back.. "NO friendlies here".
I see people get into these fire fights in which a single grenade could have ended the matter. It must be partly for fear of throwing a bad grenade. But practice makes confidence and if you practice a lot then 99% of the time you'll not kill 1/2 your platoon. But again.. practice first. Here are some nade chucks that you may or may not know about.
Roof Bounce. You have enemy at the base of the building you are on. A nade will not be close enough to them if thrown straight down. Throw a grenade on the very edge of the roof and let it bounce straight up, then straight down, even the bottom of a window sill will drop it down. Boom.. problem solved.
Angle Bounce. Enemy are inside a room/building but throwing a grenade straight into the door/window will miss them and or you dont want to expose yourself in front of window/door. Bounce a grenade on the inside edge of a window will cause it to bounce at about 30 degree's back towards you but inside room/building if you hit the right spot. This can work on a lot of surfaces, around corners, fence posts ect.
Bad apple. This one I haven't done for a long time (warm fuzzy feeling when successfull). Very rare occurrence but you may find a situation where it will work. You are being chased by a single or even two enemy. Perhaps you exchanged rounds close quarters and need to reload and decide to run away with enemy hot on your tail. Grab a grenade and right click drop it at your feet as you round a corner or pass through a large bush and but keep moving. Boom

Grenades is the biggest contributor to OH SHIT moments in PR I think
I bet if you know what Youtube is you know this "lucky" guy,
but even though I played a lot of PR those damn things bounce off a window cill and end up at my own feet and make me perform the desperate "lucky" guy move.
That being said I always wonder when 1 guy is assault a building and gets taken out on his way up the stairs, then the 2nd guy try his luck and gets taken out at the same spot.... then the 3rd.....
Why they don't just ask the dead guy in which room he thinks the shooter is.
Now the 2nd guy is going to throw the grenade from outside the building through a window, and the 3rd guy is going to rush and clear the room as soon as the grenade has gone off.
Grenades are also the new "incendiary" and takes out crates very easy now.

I use them as an offencive smoke bomb. Throw a nade and in 1.0 they throw up a tone of dust and smoke.
Run to cover knowing you are being followed throw the nade and run back through the cloud of dust to finish off the enemy.
I used one the other day to clear a room in a bunker. I know the guy inside couldn't be killed as he was behind cover and throwing in a nade made sure he stayed ducked behind the cover. So I threw it in and quickly followed once it had gone off. The guy inside was as expected ducked behind his cover waiting for me to shoot him in the back so I obliged.

People are afraid of being accused of being grenade spammers. That or they remember in vBF2 when the only weapon people used in Karkand, Mashtuur, etc, were grenades and don't want to bring that back.

lol, not. People are simply not using them as that would mean switching weapons and not being ready to fire in case you see something and are unconsciously stopping themselves.

It seems like every time I select the grenade an enemy pops up and shoot me in the face.

Just last night I was telling a guy not to toss his nade, he did the typical "NADE OUT!" thing. Sadly he ended up TKing a friendly while the enemy he was trying to nade calmly turned the corner and wasted him. This situation isn't that uncommon.
I love grenades, and I often turn to my grenade too soon wasting it on open ground while the enemy wonders wtf I was trying to accomplish.
Using grenades as a smoke screen? WTH.....

Whoa, teamwork, can't have that in this teamwork oriented game....
The reason I don't use grenades is eighter
A: trying to not let them know I'm coming, or
B: I forget about them, or
C: I'm afraid I'l be rushed if I'm alone the moment they hear the pinn being pulled.
I try to use them as much as possible if the situation allows for it, tossing a grenade on the side of a door or over some wall just before I enter can often be of great help.

I believe grenades should be used more in PR.
Deviation makes cqb fast enough anyway(so that "nadespamming" is not good).
People should get 4 grenades; it sounds like a lot but PR also do not have unlimited ammo bags and resupplies much slower than in vbf2.

You w0t mate? I highly doubt that. People tend not to use nades because they either have a terrible aim, or they can't rely on anyone around them to cover them while they swap out weapon and toss it.

would be cool if there was serverlogs logging all teamkills and by what weapon, i bet grenades are the top teamkiller.

Grenades are such a cheesy weapon and I think the current amount is just fine, and btw a rifleman with his ammo-bag essentially have unlimited grenades. Just throw one grenade and resupply yourself with your own bag.

lol grenades are not cheesy, nor are they easy to use as spam. I love them and use them whenever I can. If I have grenades left when I die, I did something wrong.

Mate gets shot in the face everytime, somehow his situational awareness and skill to fire goes to zero the moment he agrees to cover you.

Best use for them is when you have a stand-off with a single enemy. If you are ~50m away from each other and both behind cover (but unable to disengage) it is sometimes useful to either a) create a brief dust splash between you and the enemy so you can reposition or b) charge towards them using an intermediate object to block their view of you, after throwing a grenade past it so they can't beat you to it.
I use them usually as temporary (3 sec duration) IED's. If you throw one on a corner the enemy has to wait, giving you about 3-4 secs to find cover and wait for him.
The greatest fails are where you miss a window and it bounces back and makes you run behind something.. Lol..

I've made my biggest kill counts with hand granades. They're used much too rarely I agree.

Love hand grenades. I had one glitch though and when I threw it there was no animation. I ducked back into cover and sprinted away because I hadn't seen the grenade go out but could hear it and I had no idea where it was. A couple of seconds later I exploded. I have no idea how but the grenade somehow stuck to me. Ended up with 2-3 TKs.

Theres also the infamous chuck a grenade through a window and it transports itself into deep space never to be seen again.

I always tell my squadmembers "Don't forget your grenades, guys!" "Use your grenades!". Enemy behind hill? Grenade assault this shit.
