Why BMP2M has do so little damage to tanks with ATGM?
I know this is kind of suggestion, but my thread in suggestion forum is not appruved.

The ATGM from the BMP-2M will destroy armor if you land your shot in the right area, I have done and seen it done many times. If you hit the front of a tank you're going to have a bad time.

While we are talking about Feedback on BMP2M I would just like to say that I think the BMP-1 and 2, maybe 3 should have higher acceleration/change animation so it really has that "pull" when it starts.
I put it in the feedback section but i lost track of it but anyway on the right hand side the tracks don't move, they just slide along the ground making it look quite weird. Unrelated but it is still a bmp-2 feedback thread.

Nice, I loved how the Harrier went into a hover to try and kill you and failed miserably

Then again, what did he expect?
As for thermal optics, I'm not sure the BMP-2M needs them ingame. I mean they're always nice to have but right now it already is a really powerful vehicle, and quite a lot people seem to underestimate it (thinking of tank crews who notice an IFV or even APC spot on the map and don't consider it a threat to them).

I see no reason not to have them if real one did have thermals.
It helps a lot against infantry.

BMP-2M is general designation used by many countries for different modernizations of BMP-2. We are currently checking if version we have ingame have it IRL. If yes, we will add it shortly.

Does the code allow a vehicle autocannon with two different firemodes (like handheld weapons have with semi/auto/burst modes), and if this should be the case, would it be possible to have both of them be full auto but with different rates of fire?
I'm asking because the 2A42 30mm cannon of the BMP-2(M) has two firing modes (~250 rpm and 550 rpm) and it might be cool to have access to the slower one as the gun tends to heat up rather quickly. If not, we'll have to continue using short bursts which isn't an issue either.

Or the overheat time could just be increased. Everything has always been too quick on overheating in PR.
Will this fuck up the barrel? Yes. Will it make the crew compartment fill up with gun powder smoke? Sure. Could it cause an internal fire due to extractor fan not working fast enough? Probably. Will they still do it if they fire at an enemy APC? Most likely.
They fired atleast 100+ rounds there by my estimate. Impossible to count though due to bad quality.

If you increase the overheat time, you could destroy any APC with a single burst, which is bad. ATM you only need 2 bursts if you know what to do to destroy a APC and even if a LAV or Warrior starts to fire first you have a good chance of destroying them before they can destroy you.
And no. No Sane person would fire until his gun breaks or he explodes.
But thats more because quick single fire is more effective then autofire in Reality.
IRL autofire is used mainly against Air targets like Helicopters at least in the German IFV doctrine.

BMP is already OP. The fast overheat kinda balances it a bit. Its good for gameplay.

I don't think it would be that bad. Can you elaborate?
That's the direction DEVs are taking in all other vehicle fight aspects. Tank shots are more powerful against other tanks, helicopter cannons are extremely lethal against other helicopters and jets are really unforgiving too after cannon buffs. It's good. Carelessness leads to death more often than not atm, which is how I would prefer it.
Right now APC fights resemble vBF2. Driving around for even dozens of seconds shooting at eachother. Not good. Surprise has barely any effect in the non-atgm category. Most of the time the better vehicle comes out as a winner no matter the setting. Killing an APC takes too long.
Reality would be, that if you manage to ambush an enemy APC that you can penetrate, said APC wont survive. Armor on most APCs is at such low levels that they will not withstand similar amounts of AP ammunition as in PR. Some older tanks are even penetrated by 25mm tungsten AP rounds.
Way I see it, APC vs APC would be more realistic and better gameplay wise if it was a bit more lethal.

I like your ideas virus. As rhino said in his blog post, armour is going to be reworked over the next few releases so hopefully apc vs apc combat will become a bit more lethal like you said.

Side effect, less tolerance of new players in the soon to be former training ground that is APC play. They are already shunned from tanks on most servers because of the high cost and low margin for error.
Here's hoping APCs don't just get more lethal while staying costly to lose in time and tickets, how about some give and take if they're going to burst into flame if someone so much as looks at them.
