Installation of PR: BF2 Question.

I am new to both the forum and the world of Project Reality. The day before yesterday I bought and installed BF2. Last night I installed PR. I had downloaded the players guide after I downloaded the mod and didn't see where it said I need the 1.41 and 1.5 Patches for BF2 before downloading PR. What will happen if I leave the program as is and don't download the patches? And can I download the patches with PR installed if necessary?
I also apologize if this is the wrong place to post this thread. New to the forum and any suggestions and directions are welcome.

Oh and I haven't even booted up the servers yet. Wanted to get this question answered before launching the game.

Welcome to PR,
Good thing you asked first,
You must install BF2, update it to the current 1.5 build, then install PR. In that order.
Here is the installation guide in tl;dr format:
Install BF2.
Run BF2.
Note the version number on the bottom left corner of the log-in screen. Write it down.
log in or create a user account.
join online game.
adjust your audio and video settings now for convenience.
exit BF2.
Reboot.
(Optionally if you bought it) install Special Forces Addon.
Run BF2.
log in.
join online game.
exit BF2.
Reboot.
install 1.41 FULL PATCH.
Run BF2.
log in.
join online game.
exit BF2.
Reboot.
install 1.5 PATCH.
Run BF2.
log in.
join online game.
exit BF2.
Reboot.
Download and install PR1.0 full installer.
Start the PRLauncher shortcut on desktop.
PRLauncher's profile importer routine will start,
import your BF2 profile to PR,
PRLauncher will check for updates, download and install them,
After updates, click PLAY in PRlauncher
Some of those reboots are overly cautious recommendations, but rebooting will prevent any type of failed update causing you to reinstall the entire game from scratch, so I leave the reboot recommendation in there.

Thats what I had seen. Ok so must I remove PR first and update BF2 to 1.5 then re-download it?

patch 1.5 must be installed and working... then you install PR
u cant go wrong...
if you already installed PR without the patch, yes remove it, install the patch then PR 1.0

If you bought BF2 in Steam or Origin though, it should be updated already to the newest 1.5 version!
(Unless you bought an old DVD from a shop. Did you check the version? )

Do you still need to start Vanilla BF2 once to create your profile?
