You Need a CD (BF2 1.5)

Post by Bluedrake42 »

I have a friend who has a legit key for BF2, but no CD. I was under the impression that 1.5 doesn't require a CD anymore, but whenever he tries to run the game it prompts him for the CD. Any thoughts?

How was the game installed?

Maybe have a look in registry for the version string to be sure it is actually 1.5: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Electronic Arts\EA Games\Battlefield 2\ on a 64-bit system - I guess HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Electronic Arts\EA Games\Battlefield 2\ on 32-bit.

Boris is correct. In those registry entries, there is a NoCD = 1 or = 0 , there should be four separate entries, I think, each has to be changed.

Also, if he downloads and installs the EA Origin software, Download Origin , he can enter his legit BF2 key into Origin then download and install BF2 through Origin.

Oh nice, hopefully the Origin thing will work, that would be the simplest solution
