It would seem that you are wasting your breath, Sharps. Many before have said the same exact thing with the Devs simply ignoring them. I don't see their attitude changing anytime soon.

Is there an issue with how the engine scales objects or is everything not to scale?

There's a small problem with your logic, you're not counting with pixels. ALL FPS games, not PR not BF2 ALL of them, have the same problem
-People with good monitors will always see better than a gamer playing on a laptop.

Last thing I would like to see is going into close quarters with AK and having zoom.
It is good how it is.

At the end of the day the problem comes down to having either situational awareness, or being able to see as clearly as real life by "faking it".
ARMA tries to solve this problem by giving you an optional zoom in ability, but its base FOV is still zoomed in really far and IMO, its situational awareness is appalling and destroys immersion largely because of this. Even thou it dose make up a bit for it by being able to move your head around interdependently from the rest of your body its still really bad IMO.
Yes giving Iron Sights the ability to zoom would solve the problem a bit but as IrRahman says, CQC would be really badly affected by this.
I should also point out we have tried it in some basic tests and it feels really, really bad all round especially from an immersion POV but also from a combat one unless your sniping at far targets.
All in all the best way to solve this problem is quite simple: buy a bigger, better monitor if you can afford one. This way you get the best of both worlds.
Also it should be noted even if we did put some zoom on Iron sights or w/e, the people with the bigger, better monitors would still have a large, clear advantage over people on tiny screens, they would just have an even bigger one than they do now.

A suggestion would be; make iron sight weapons have an optional zoom, like a "deployed" mode like the PKM, but that would take away one weapon slot.
TBH, I never had this problem and I'm playing on a 1440x900 screen with reduced resolution. You can shoot very accurately with these guns, but I like just spraying rounds with it just like it's depicted on rebel/taliban-videos

What kind of shitty reply is this? Just because we don't want to change it, doesn't mean we're ignoring people or that we need to change our "attitude".

While the FOV on Arma is pretty bad as far as shooting games go the solution they implemented is built into their engine, with PR:BF2 you have to work against frostbites limitations to try to force a fix. I wouldn't mind the ability to "focus", but as far as I can see there is sacrifices involved in bringing this to fruition and obviously no one wants to quick fix the issue leaving everyone with an unimpressive final result.
The solution may not be apparent to as right now, but having this discussion might be able to change that. Everyone would profit from a slight zoom ability so I don't understand where this negative input is coming from...

Ouch, calm down man. This is the first time that I've seen the Devs respond to one of these posts, so hang me. Also, Rhino pretty much confirmed what I thought anyway, that the reason that we don't have a zoom like we do in arma is because some members Dev team don't "like" it. That's an attitude, relax.

And tbh, its not cause the devs aren't voicing their opinion in here all the time that this isn't being discussed in the dev forums. I can remember a multipage discussion about this in the team forums. Don't be soo fast to judge.

Yeah, the way rhino talked about it would suggest that its been discussed by the team, but what i'm saying is that making another thread isnt going to solve anything because they've already made up their minds and nothing that anybody can say is going to change anything about it. I feel like thats been the case with a lot of things lately.

We have talked about it and said the same thing many times before in the public forums. This subject has been done to death which is probably why not every thread is responded to if any but we don't see everything on these forums either....

Is the system you use for the grenadier sight maybe a way to balance things out? So that you try to re-enact how people focus their eyes and people can choose from let's say 50 meters (Standard), 75, 100 and 200 meters giving a small "focus" alias little zoom with a narrower image of the surroundings. Might be way to even things out, not sure if scopes are then not that useful anymore.

Finally a new idea, B.Pronk. Go ahead and suggest that in the suggestions forum, PM me when you're done and I'll approve it for discussion. I was one of the team members voicing my opinion strictly against ironsights zoom - but if it was optional, depending on the player, I'd be all for it.

Do you know how many times that idea has been posted by people? Its not "new".
