It has been redone as many people probably upgraded their systems since the last time, and because 1.0 needs obviously more performance than previous versions.

Effects - High
Geometry - "Low"
Textures - Medium
Lighting - "Low"
Dynamic Shadows - Low
Dynamic Light - Low
Texture Filtering - Low
View Distance: 100%

I'm curious why you decided that the effects should be on high? In my experience the effects is one of the worst fps killers of PR 1.0. If your system has enough RAM I would go for High texture and Geometry and set the effects on low instead.
Btw im running everything on high except effects, which are medium.

I never played enough 1.0 to notice a huge drop due to the Effects, most of these settings are based of the settings I used on 0.98.

Effects should always be set on HIGH so you can see explosions from distance.
Code: Select all
VideoSettings.setTerrainQuality 2
VideoSettings.setGeometryQuality 2
VideoSettings.setLightingQuality 2
VideoSettings.setDynamicLightingQuality 0
VideoSettings.setDynamicShadowsQuality 0
VideoSettings.setEffectsQuality 3
VideoSettings.setTextureQuality 1
VideoSettings.setTextureFilteringQuality 1
VideoSettings.setResolution 1366x768@60Hz
VideoSettings.setAntialiasing Off
VideoSettings.setViewDistanceScale 1
VideoSettings.setVideoOptionScheme 3
In other words, LOW...

That is a very good point. I never realized it effected the distance, as I thought it was just the quality. I have had some strange moments where my vehicle was hit by a tank shell and nothing appeared, I always thought it was some kind of bug but now I guess it could be related to my effect set to medium?
It doesn't make complete sense though since you would think that the effects where not showing in a radius away from yourself and not have anything to do with the incoming effect.
But thanks for the tip ill set it back on high to see if it fixes that "bug".

For some reason, if I had my graphics on all high on .981 I would get like 4 FPS. But on 1.0, with all high, I have 20-40+.

Everything as high as it will go.
It's kind of funny, I've come across 2 kinds of people in game. Those who have mega computers that can handle any modern game, and those who are playing on systems that could barely play BF2 when it was released. I don't see much middle ground. The poll kind of mirrors that too.

Running all minimum settings via the PR Launcher, still get **** FPS now. ~20fps when looking in certain directions.
