Hiya,
welcome to PR,
there are quite a few dbghelp.dll files on a normal windows installation,
Quick question, Do any other DX9 games crash on your PC?
the easiest place to start troubleshooting would be to update your video card drivers, making sure to completely uninstall your current video drivers first.
Directions to properly upgrade GPU drivers using Treexy's Driver Fusion
download this.
Driver Fusion - The Complete Driver Solution
Code: Select all
http://treexy.com/products/driver-fusion
install it, run it, completely uninstall the current Nvidia GeForce or AMD Radeon drivers.
REBOOT.
Do NOT allow the new hard ware wizard to install drivers.
Download the newest stable Nvidia GeForce or AMD Radeon drivers directly from either Nvidia.com or AMD.com or the GPU manufacturer's website.
Code: Select all
http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us
Code: Select all
http://support.amd.com/en-us/download
Install the drivers, make sure to do a custom install so no junkware is added in the installation.
REBOOT.
Last step for PR is to clear the old shader cache,
start PRLauncher,
Click Support->Utilities->Find the top list as Clear Shader Cache->Click Perform Task.
You should then be good to go,
NOTE: As per usual when upgrading GPU drivers, on some games you might need to delete the shaders caches once, especially with vanilla BF2.
