Re-instated faith in BF2.

Just what I wanted to see, a British Army Mod on a sexy looking engine. Be great to watch your SA80 fail and then have to bayonet your enemy to death in true British Army fashion (dreaming).
Anyway, will the camo types change depending on what map your're on? An obvious question but I just want to make sure I won't see desert camo in slightly more lush terrain
Thanks.

Doing that is one of the goals of the devs as far as i know. If it's possible it'll be in.

How exactly will the British look apart from Americans? I mean, it's not like they wear bowler hats and cricket bats to war (as far as I know)

indeed.
@waffenbaum: would be funny. trying to kill an mec by hitting him with a cricket bat. or hit a ball so it hits the chinese guy...

and anyway unless the devs find a way of putting in battles with 3 forces the british would never be on the same map as the US because they wouldn't be fighting against eachother. and i imagine there will be a british flag on the uniform or whatever is used.

Google British soldier and then American soldier... there is quite a big difference. Anyway, arn't the British going to be a replacement for the Americans?
Or... even better... put some story in and make out that the Americans are the evil imperialists and Britain is going to stop them with l33t Royal Marine Commandos etc etc

Or something like that.

Things like that will be implemented in a later spinoff mod, Project Stereotype. English troops may spawn with cricket bats or umbrellas instead of knives. The umbrella will also replace the parachute.
Also, UK forces may randomly spawn as a troop from a Scottish regiment, in which case the character will wear a DPM tartan and kilt for the appropriate terrain. Scottish troops will spawn with broken bottles instead of knives and the secondary fire will be a head-butt, represented by a quick zoom in and out centered on the screen. A "Piper" kit will be available as a pickup on such maps. Enemy players caught in the effective radius of the pipes will have their screens become blurry with tears.

On a more serious note...
It has been a great tradition (if you like) for the British soldier to be exceptionally skilled with his bayonet. Scenarios include the Crimean war when the Grenadier Guards stormed the battlements of Savastapol and drove the Russians into the sea (my history is very hazy) to the recent bayonet charges that have taken place in 'Gulf War II'.
Will bayonets be included or is it a big waste of time in this type of game?

Probably not in an initial release, but we would like to diversify close combat beyond just different types of knives. Fixed bayonets and entrenching tools are among the things that have been tossed around as alternates. And yes, as you've said, fixed bayonets are still a useful close combat weapon even in this day and age.
