Hello everyone,
I have a few questions about animating a weapon. I'm new to this, and I would like to know how long it'll take me to learn mechanics of programs I'll use animating. Also, if you guys know any animating tutorials for beginners, please share. Thanks!

Chuc's tutorial explains most of it... then follow Pyscho's advice:

I will, but how long will it take me to learn the basics of 3DS Max and start animating some weapons a little bit?

Its hard to say as it varies quite a lot from person to person. I've never animated myself so I can't say but I know Chuc picked it up pretty quickly, it may be an idea to try and get in touch with him directly and see if he is able to help you but afaik, he's pretty busy with r/l stuff at the mo so will probably not be able to do more than just link you to a few tuts etc.

Hope you pick this up soon and we may even have some animating tasks for you in the future if you do :D

Just follow Chuc's video and experiment yourself :) Only way to improve is practice, the more time you put in the quicker you will learn.

Chad from FH2 once made a video on how he creates his animations, from start to finish pretty much. That should at least give you an idea of the skills that are required.

Next to that, what Rhino says :) .

Yeah. I think I found his channel on YouTube. It's chad509, if I'm correct.

It's not that hard to learn, it's just very time consuming and quite boring x)

You have to deal with the shitty BF2 editor too...

It's the only way to beat 2005's cr*ppy game engines!
