Cpu upgrade,but which ?

It?s Time again to upgrade my Cpu and Motherboard.
So i thought it would be nice to upgrade enough to play at least PR again.
After some Cpu Research i am kind of torn between a
Amd fx-6300 Cpu (~100 €

or an equivalent
Intel Core i5-4440 (~150 €
Intel is a good Deal more expensive, but is supposedly a
good Deal Faster for single thread applications.
In other Words : Games.Especially PR with its inability to use Multicores effectively.
So:
My Question for all those running Pr with good Fps.Or Techgeeks.
What Cpu are you using,
And,
which Cpu would you recommend me ?

it really depands on your needs ... the fx 6300 is more than enough for PR.
I currntly use a FX 8350 and befor that I used a FX 6100. I had solid 60 fps with the 6100 if I remember right.
However as you mentioned correct Intel CPU's have better single threaded perfomance.
If you have the money go with Intel
or buy my old FX 6100

Go for Intel. Serves better in long run than AMD.

The Core i5-3570k is an awesome price on Amazon.com right now. Only $199.

i3 is even sufficient, spend the 100 usd you save on the gpu!!

Usually cpu upgrade requires a gpu upgrade as well otherwise gpu becomes a bottleneck.
I'm sure fx-6300 is sufficient to run PR like i5, but in the end it's all bout how much money you have.

I'm not sure if anything runs PR at good frames nowadays... Maybe a 4960X with a monster overclock.
First, what motherboard do you have? Second, do you plan on overclocking?
As for what I'm running - I've got a Q6600 right now and will be buying a 4770K come Black Friday.

Why would you buy dual core in quad core age? And i5 is bigger bang for the buck.

Because you save 100 bucks that is better spent on the GPU like he says.
Makes perfect sense to buy the i3 even today since the increase you get with the i5 doesn't scale well with the extra cost when it comes to gaming.

id buy the Amd fx-6300 Cpu because it is very good performance for a small amount of money, if your not afraid of power consumption.

6300, best bang for teh buck. My
[email protected] runs PRBF2@80-100FPS with a 7970 just fine. If you want to go Intel, go for a 3570K which is a great bang for the buck.

Well, Thank you all for your Help.
After Much Deliberation and checking of Prices i will probably go with an 3350P from Intel.
It costs 50 Bucks more but has a similar increase in Gaming Performance,so the lower Power Consumption makes the Deal.
I assume the 6300 is more Futureproof,in regards to Console Ports from the next-Gen Consoles ,but that is a bit farfetched for me.
Also Console Ports usually suck.
For all interested here is my raw Price Comparison:
Cpu
Fx6300 Used ca 80€ New 95€ am3+ 95 W
fx8320 U ca 90€ N 114€ am3+ 125 W
i5-3350P U ca 90€ N 143€ 1155 69 W
Mobo :
P8Z68-V LX U - N 60€ 1155 Socket
-------------------------------------------
End: 3350+p8z68 = 150-203 €

In that case I think you should go one step up and pick i5-3470 even though its set to 77W tdp. It isn't that much more expensive but it is better value for it's futuremark scores.
Intel Core i5-3470 Processor - Compare
I don't know for sure but I'd guess that when the integrated graphics are disabled which they will be when your using a GPU , that the power consumption difference won't be that great. Sometimes it might even be cheaper in power because of Virtu, will power down your GPU when it is not needed for the current task like browsing the web etc.

Bob, did you even read Gacler's last suggestion here?
