login server refuesed connection

First off I know this isn't a PR issue but I'm hoping you guys could give me some more info / feedback since I've hit a wall.

Basically as with some of the others having this issue when ever I try login to my BF2 account I get the server refused connection error so I tried creating a new account but I still get the same error, this led me to believe my router was blocking it but opening all required ports solves nothing and unfortunately my router is my modem so I can't go around it.

I have completely uninstalled both PR and BF2 and removed all registries tied to it, reinstalled just BF2 via origin and before adding anything else to the game I once again tried to login and create a new account but to no avail I still receive the server refuses connection error.

So is there anything at all I could be missing or some workaround you guys might be able to point me towards? a side note I was able to play PR during the 1.0 beta and before but I took a break for a while only to come back unable to login.

Edit: I've been trying to login randomly for the last 4 days so considering people are in playing PR I don't suspect that the login servers are down just simply my connection to them is borked in some way.

Did you try DMZ-ing your computer and disabling the router's firewall?

Make sure you can connect to gpcm.gamespy.com over TCP port 29900.

Can test this if you have a telnet client on your computer. If you have the windows telnet client enabled in Windows Features, then you can just run the command "telnet gpcm.gamespy.com 29900", and if you can connect, it will return some challenge code text.

Hay sorry been about a week since I posted last.

Did the telnet connect and received back :

\lc\1\challenge\LXVSCZVYNE\id\1\final\ it just sat there till I pressed return and it disconnected me with a Error parsing an incoming request, I'm guessing that was expected though and that the whole point in trying telnet was to see if I could connect which I think it did no?

hmm I tried to connect to BF2 once again before tweaking router settings again and for some reason I can connect just fine now.

I take it this whole login issue is mainly down to a dodgy old login server that only works half the time :?

Hopefully I can get PR working again now, thanks for the assistance in any case.
