Crashing when joining multiplayer servers

Every time i start up PR it seems to go smoothly but when i get to multiplayer i refresh the list, it lags a bit, i click a server, lags again or sometimes even freezes completely. Every time i click Deploy the game closes/crashes without any error messages. I tried running it on Vista (and service packs), XP (and service packs), and windows 7 and the same thing happens every time.
My computer uses windows 8 and i think that might be a problem but im not sure, ive seen people on youtube posting videos having problems with windows 7 but that was for normal BF2 not PR, i tried them anyway but they didnt seem to work
Any help would be appreciated thanks.

Can you try running the game in a window, and join a game..? if it crashes it should at least show some kind of error message.

i do run it in windowed mode but it dose not display an error in windowed or full, it just says cleaning project reality, some kind of message like that that only lasts about 1-2 seconds then closes. other than that it says nothing, it just closes

Ok, I have to go to work, but here are the next troubleshooting steps to take:
- Verify that you can run BF2 [not PR] without any issues
- Try creating a LOCAL pr game (or co-op)

i can run a local game so i know the game works, i can run bf2 fine on singleplayer but i have the same issue with multiplayer but bf2 sometimes dosent immediately crash, it says i lost connection after a few seconds on multiplayer. when i run it on local then try to join a server i get a runtime error but only when i run it on local first.

Do you have a legit CDKey for BF2?
If you do, you can use the PRLAuncher->Support-Keys Tab->manually enter your Key, then click Change Key button, to fix a possible registry error.
PR requires a legit BF2 CDKey to play online.

the CD key on the back of my box was used when i was about 9 years old. i lost the account and couldnt recover it so i tried reusing the code with a new account, would that make it invalid?

No it wouldn't invalidate the code.
Are you sure you typed it correctly?

KooteniaRanger and nuk3m,
Start PRLauncher->Options->Video Tab(default tab)->UNTICK the Fullscreen tickbox.->Lower the display resolution to something smaller than your native fullscreen resolution.->CLICK APPLY on bottom right.
Start PR, try to join online multiplayer server.
If you ctd, you will get a pop up message window telling you the error message causing the crash. Screencap or write down the message, then post in this thread.

I did this and the game starts in full screen mode and after joining multiplayer it gets ctd and theres no error message or anything. Then i went to default BF2 and went into setting/video and tried to change some setting and while saving i got ctd too.

aha, dont know wut steam overlay is but i had installed Overwolf that came in with TS3 n I always have it running, I closed that Overwolf which does various overlays and i was able to connect, its strange but the Overwulf has an app for use in PR to do calculation for motars, and the overwolf is not compatible with PR

Overwolf overlay only works if you use the 32bit version of TS3.
IDK why. It's just how it is.
