Chinook Minigun and FPS

The side door Minigun causes huge FPS drop when fired continuously.
After holding down fire, the fps will continuously drop, (until it reached a minimum of 16FPS for me) (see pictures).
Also occurs on large distances as well:
Note: I checked the rear gun as well (.50 cal?), and the FPS only dropped by a little bit to a minimum of ~54fps

My guess is the many, many impact effects?

Yeah, my guess too.
And I would assume that it is the collection of these many effects across the whole map from the whole server that leads to the massive fps lag many people are experiencing.
If even one Chinook can cause this, imagine how bad it would be when the whole server is creating bullet impacts on the ground.

Every weapon causes this. Try magdumping weapon right under yourself...
And imagine 100p doing so, that can be cause of fucked up FPS problem since 1.0.
I will post a video about that problem soon.

Yep, I agree.
Just tried with the .50 cal again, dumped at feet and experienced a ~20FPS drop during firing - if one (slowish compared to Minigun) weapon can do this it shows the potential of ruining FPS totally on 100p servers with multiple weapons firing all at once.

The Chinook shouldn't even have miniguns on it. Regular line units in the Army mount M240Ds in the doors and ramp, while the MH-47s of the 160th SOAR mount M134s in the doors and a 240D on the ramp.

I think he's talking about the UK Chinook. Those do have M134s in the windows in general service. They don't have a .50 on the ramp, though, just an M60D. Yes, M60D; because they came with the aircraft. Not sure why they can't/won't mount a GPMG ARD on it, instead.

Mmm, gotcha. I wasn't sure about other countries CH-47s.
