CD Key not valid.

I've seen this around the forums quite a bit, but never really knew how to fix it.
Straight to the point- Whenever I -attempt- to join a server it will say, "Your CD key is not valid"
I have a legitimate copy of BF2 on Steam.
Haven't played in a good while, just looking to get back into the mod!

Any support would be greatly appreciated,
-Jameston.

I don't think that is possible.

The PRLauncher has a two things to help us here,
1. Go to Support tab, click the 'copy to clipboard' button, then paste everything in this thread. The Specs report includes the CDKey= True or CDKey = False

2. Go to Support tab, then the Keys tab, and copy your PB GUID.
then go here:
PBBans | MBi - Ban Search
and pastre your GUID ID on top, select the battlefield 2 game, type in the Captcha, and search if your CDKey has been banned.

In Steam, right click Battlefield 2 and go "View CD key". Copy this key to your clipboard.

Now go to PRLauncher -> Support -> Keys -> Change CD Key, and paste (ctrl-v) your key into the box.

Should be validated and confirmed as legit, and away you go.

I'm going to take a guess and say you haven't launched Battlefield 2 in Steam, so your cd key information hasn't been inserted into the registry by the first time setup that Steam does. But doing the above should solve your problem just fine :)

Thanks Ancient, Have done several of the recommended fixes. What it came down to is changing the key in the register that did not contain the dashes to one the did contain dashes. I think it is an issue with the version of BF2 I downloaded from Amazon. It is the Complete Collection BF2. Everything seems to be working need to check the comms another evening.

Thanks Again!

RusticBob

You said you had BF2 on Steam, not Amazon? Oh well, as long as it works :)

The OP had it on steam (Jameston), but Rusticbob didn't mention steam ;)
