Fast Roping

Is there a way to fast rope from a Helicopter in PR? I've seen youtube videos on it but I have no idea how to do it.

More of having the problem of exiting the helicopter mid air through the back.

Welcome to the forums.

No, fast roping is not possible. The video shows a trick which uses the breacher/pointman/specialists grappling hook - it can be thrown onto a stationary helicopter and used to climb down, but this requires someone to actually throw the hook (who likely isn't going to be available standing around in the landing zone) and if the helicopter moves even a meter or two away from the original position, the rope will either fall down or remain floating in mid air in the heli's original position.

Fast ropes are also a bit of a forum in-joke, having been suggested many times over the course of the years. Just in case you get confused by what I'm sure is going to follow.

Thanks for the welcome, sir :)

I knew that it was the grappling hook haha I was confused about how they "exited" the chopper, but didn't fall and die haha

Ah, as for how they did it, I guess they just timed their jumping well and managed to grab the hook before they died from the fall.^^

It's like those spiderman people who can jump from building to building with the grappling hook. Just got to have a leap of faith and press E before it hurts.^^

Haha I guess I have to classify what I mean. I'm talking about when they are getting out of their seats. How do they manage to stay in the helicopter without dying. I always assumed that if you are in a seat and you press E while a helicopter is in mid air you spawn outside of the heli and fall to your horrible death haha

Oh, that. Depends on the seat and the helicopter type. Changed from version to version, perhaps someone can tell you which seats are safe to exit right now and make you end up inside.

Hmm... Spec, it actually looks like the rope was thrown from inside the helicopter and not outside at the landing zone, see 1:27 for the perfect examples.

As you mentioned, it appears as though the exit is inside the helicopter (the popping up of name tags and the reduction of +2, +1 on the pilots nametag in the video), therefore they run to the back of the Heli with specialist, right click the rope so it drops on the cargo door and falls to the floor, and then press E and slide down.

Presently, every helicopter I have been in, you always exit outside the helicopter preventing people from doing this now :(

I was actually there when they recorded this video :) It was in an old pr clan called [EEF]..
This was PR version like 4 years ago. Maybe even more. Back then the merlin helicopter you spawned inside it when you pressed E to get out. When the helicopter was steady enough and low enough (The door opens on a certain altitude) you can stand inside and just throw your rope out.

I got an idea, is there any way we could code the helicopters with hard points that a breacher could throw his rope on and the rope ride on the chooper and when they get to their target the team ropes down

HE asked for it!

But in all seriousness, why was this changed? :(
Spawn points inside Heli's are just so much better as well. Adds to the time it would actually take for a squad to leave a helicopter instead of a one-two second touch down and then fly off.
