The American one needs to lock and a little red circle comes up. Thats when you fire.

The MEC/PLA one doenst need to lock and you might aswell fire it from the hip because it will kill them anyway. Also, when you hear a tone for a mila second then explose in an air unti, lket it be known you were killed by the Grail(Chinese+MEC Anti Air) which is the M4 of anti air in its overpoweredness.

In-game you at least have time to bail out occasionally after a hit, in that video it just shows the jets and helis exploding on impact :B

Yea what do MEC use? SA-7? I don't remember ever locking into anything with those things and they pretty much fire just like a regular RPG for me (only shittier). Are they supposed to do that or is there something I'm not doing in order to lock with them?

There's no lock-on tone for the SA-7 Grail. Just center your target and fire. I've one-hit killed A-10s with it on Al Basrah if you hit them from behind. Cobras usually take two.

Couldn't the aircraft at least get a warning? I'm rather tired of hearing "BEE-BOOM!" The BH, at least, doesn't stand a chance.

The sa-7 is unable to lock onto little bird helicopters.

This was made in an attempt to nerf it and also because in real life there probably would not be enough heat from such a small heicopter's engine to lock on effectively.

You probably knew that but never mind.

besides, RPGs FTW!

Hey jedi, played wih you the other day i think.

Anywho, the grail is ridiculous.
You can fire it roughly at any air vehicle and it will hit. That would be good and well, but the fact is that the pilot has no chance to drop flares or evade if a grails on him.
Its literally : beep-BOOM, like the second half of a normal heat-seeker on PR.
It sucks, but i think their gonna change it for .42

IRL an IR missile gives you no warning that its been fired at you so unless you see it fired, you won't know it until you get hit.

That's correct. Most SAM's aquire targets using radar, but the minute it is launched, the guidance system is purely IR, tracking the last target the radar fed it. The pilots get a warning on their Early Warning System that show the general location of the threat only when the radar is still trying to get a lock on them, but can't exactly know where. But, the minute that missile is fired, no more warnings, pilots have to rely on sight and egress manuevers.

Yes, but in the case of the sa-7 there is no radar to give any warning you are being looked at. Its pretty much point and shoot as the target flys by.
